After playing a lot of ground interdiction in the Thunderjet with Mig Alley, here's some ideas for AH:
Mig Alley has treelines, the forests are solid polygons with treeline textures around them. So they subtract almost nothing to framerate. But it can make hitting columns of moving trucks difficult, as you must line your run up with the road.
Arty/Mortar teams. Drop infantry off and they can set a couple up and start pounding airbases and vehicle bases, albeit somewhat slowly. They should be deployable from the M16, and they are visible as inf polygons issuing flashes. Rockets should decimate them.
Roads should increase vehicle speed. The Pz4 should hit 45 on a road.
Oil refineries. Should be in the rear of the "triangular" borders, boxed in a valley that has airbases on top of the hills. Hitting them would cripple oil more so that it does now, so planes can only use 50% fuel max.
These two suggestions are doable in say, a couple code releases. They serve to make the game more ground oriented. Then it should be more valuable to run ground strikes.
