Can you take snapshots from films

Has anyone figured out howf we can take a snapsot from a film?

For example you can take a screenshot (Ctrl-PrintScreen) from the filmviewer->open windows paint program->paste new picture from clipboard(Ctrl-V)->select the image area(square-looking-button)->cut it(Ctrl-X)->select file-new->paste the picture to a new sheet->save the picture.
To convert and modify bitmapfiles I use "IrfanView" freeware.

If you watch your film in the by clicking on "film" on the clipboard, you can take screenshots by using the alt+s command.  It doesn't work in the AH film viewer though.
