Yea I've been following this Battlestar stuff for some time, there is a real nasty debate between fans wanting Richard Hatch's ("Apollo") vision of what BG should be and Geln Larson's....the two despise one another

There was a big to-do on this on SciFi about a year or two, elaborating the 2 sides opinions.


Same, I thought Hatch's and especially Moore's versions were not the way to go....
Perhaps its just better to let it all alone, and live in the glory days of 1979!

I remember Battlestar Galacta.  I was, oh I'm guessing, 13-years old at the time and as I recall made a great jump in the special effects as used in t.v. shows at the time.  The show I remember as being quite interesting (I was in 4th or 5th grade at the time) was Space 1999.  I'd love to see some of those again.  I recall it being almost a Twilight Zone on the moon.

Yeah, leave it be (Battlestar) as a good memory.

The documentary on their opinions was pretty well done.  Hatch just soured a lot of people with this "let's make my own version and THEN they'll just HAVE to like my vision of Battlestar Galactica".  The guy is pretty full of himself, his website tells of what an inspirational speaker or something he is now.  Aren't washed up Sci Fi actors fun when they flounder in their own self-importance?  :D

Dirk Benedict was interesting...he liked Hatch's "energy" and passion, but felt it was best to go the way Larson wanted to go, if they did do this over again.

Perhaps with such heavy opinions on both sides, it was best to wipe the slate clean and do it all over again, nullifying to warring factions?

Beats me man, I'm holding out for a new Buck Rogers!  Be-de-be-de-be-de Hey Buck!   :)

Jane was the best reason to watch that show, other than the cool flight jackets and the kick-butt Vipers.  The Cylons were ok as far as being the bad guys, but the robotic dog and the annoying boy were horrible attempts to pander to the "family" audience.  But "Star Trek" was still the king of mainstream sci-fi and it had the added bonus of scantilly clad alien babes.  Ah, yes.  The green-skinned women of Orion....

After the first season or two, when they made it to Earth, things went horribly awry.

I guess its only fitting that its being directed by the guy who made a horrible mess of a movie adaptation from an Anne Rice novel by pandering to the MTV audience.  I wouldn't be surpised if the actors end up getting replaced after the first year.  The only bright spot is that the producers have done some good work so maybe they'll catch the errors before the show gets yanked.
