Tracers
« on: August 05, 1999, 01:38:00 AM »
Hi!

What I would like to see and it seems to me that it would be fairly simple to implement (But then agian I dont know anything about the code) is the option to remove or reduce the tracers.

I remeber reading about a WWII American Squad in the pacific who removed their tracers and their kill ratio imporved significantly.

Anyway it would be nice to be able to do this
eventhough shooting would be alot harder <G>

Zed, I posted the same thing (almost verbatim actually) about a week ago and from what I heared there will be an option to fiddle with tracer loadout.

BTW that quote is from Shaw's book...I just looked it up.

Actually, the British planes the carried the DeWilde bullets didn't leave a tracer trail either.
The DeWilde, as I understand it was not a 'tracer' round but a 'sparker' round that provided a bright flash when it hit something. (If anybody knows more about it, and can correct me on this, I'd appreciate it   )
This would give you great feedback on hits, without giving away the fact that you're shooting! Excellent for low six bounces

That is very true about pilots taking out the tracers. They took em out because they could shoot and miss and not give away their position to the enemy.

Their should be an option before you take off if you want tracers or not.
