Now he's marching soldiers in the rain
As on to war they rode.
A long thin line of human mind,
Damnation as their load!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

The song is "Harold Land" by Yes.

I saw Yes open for Jethro Tull in 1971 for $4.50. What a show!

Your turn, old timer. I saw them once way back when as well.

Ok, here's some lyrics for you.

"I had my first cigarette at ten, and for girls I had a bad yen"
"I had my first love at thirteen, she was brown and I was pretty green"

Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth
"Rip down all hate," I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull. I dreamed
Romantic facts of musketeers
Foundationed deep, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Got that one on my MP3 player Targ.

My Back Pages, Bob Dylan... although the Byrds did an excellent cover.

Next: another of my favorites.

"Hello woman of my dreams
This is not the way it seems
Purple words on a grey background
To be a woman and to be turned down"

should be easy---

It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better left unsung
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air
