I think they use special low velocity cartridges in airplanes.  In this guy's case, that'd be low velocity armor-piercing :)

Baretta m82 anti-material rifle, used for light apc's .50cal AP rounds. Kind of those 1 shot to the engine, blow up in the movie deals. Damn powerful rifle.

hmm.....

Here in norway i know that those rifles are sometimes used to "detonate" lugage that may contain bombs at airfields....or anywhere else..
