Cougar and CH USB Pro Peals:

Anyone with this combination get them to work together in AH, when I have both plugged in AH hangs(at variable times).

Do I need to use the control manager for the CH pedals?

Does CH control manager conflict with Cougar Foxy software?

I use both and have absolutely no problems.  I don't use any CH control managers or anyhting like that, so I can't comment on any conflicts with Foxy (come to think of it, I don't use Foxy in AH either).

Works fine here.  With XP, i just plugged in the pedals and they were recognized.  No CH soft at all.

Thanks Moloch.

I have exactly the same problem for months (random and intemittent hard lockups).  There is a conflict with the Cougar and USB ports. It's something to do with STTUB 201.sys in Windows/system32/drivers.

No problems show in device manager, but if you type "verifier" at the run command, choose "create standard settings" then "automatically select all drivers on this computer" and "finish" you will get blue screen message saying

"system verification error in sttub 201 sys (WDM Driver error 2OE STTUB 201.sys +1941 at EF4A0941"

You will have to go into safe mode (F1 at reboot) run verifier again and choose "delete existing settings" to get back to WinXP desktop.

CH software won't work. It only works with exclusive CH stuff.

I think I managed to update a USB driver, but I havn't hads time to see if I'm still getting lockups. AH sits quite happliy on the runway for 5 hours without a lockup with the cougar uplugged and uninstalled. When it was installed, 20 mins half an hour till lockup.

I have been going nuts with this for months. Now i know its the Cougar and/or USB I hate both the overpriced piece of junk and PC's in general. It might be worth trying different USB ports.

Other than this I think the CH pro's and cougar work perfectly together:p

Then again a nice cheap afterburner stick with rudders would have been better.

FOGOLD, it seems it's not only additional USB-pedals that can cause the Cougar's driver to kick the bucket
but that the new driver that's come along with the 2.02/03 update-package
is... ahem, I'll try to avoid to say something really mean and just say: not that good  in general:

I've got some files for AH almost finished "in store" since several weeks
but can't use 'em 'cause after DL my kitten will immediatly drop dead  -
without any error-message (but I've disabled this "shall I report dis 'n' dat to Billy boy?" anyway :D )
and without the compiler, the CCP or Foxy even realizing this until I try to switch the mode back to DirectX :o ...

This seems to be caused by a compiled file size greater than 64% ,
and although I did report this to Mark "The Moon" and David "The Block" more than a month ago
I didn't get much more than a 1st "this might be of interest for you, but not for us" by Mark -
no "under investigation" or whatever info an whatever state since then
other than "we might look into this when / if we should find any time to do so" ...

I've seen your comment on this USB-issue on CW -
maybe it would be a good idea to post these further details there as well?!

I mean, if these fellas think they can ignore this issue (speaking of drop-outs in general)
due to missing or not enough evidence, let alone proofs,
well, then let's tickle them from time to time :D by giving them further evidence  ...

Personally, I am beginning to think the whole Cougar thing is going to go belly up soon anyway. Thrustmaster seem less than interested (no link to support any more), Cougar World is under threat, people can't seem to get spare parts that are wearing out (yes wearing out!).

Trouble is, now I've got the bloody thing all set up nicely for AH, I actually like it am  used to it and  yes it is clever. The thought of changing again is a bit daunting.

Well, I agree that maybe ;) 2.02 introduced more - and more serious  - issues than it (should have :D ) solved,
but AFAIK Guillemot's support-address and the link to it still is available
(though with a semicolon at the end that's gotta be removed manually
if you want your mail to reach :rolleyes: that recipient;
note and mind, though, that I say "available",
which doesn't necessarily imply that you'd get or could expect any reply :p )...

Cougar World is another matter,
though I gotta admit that I don't get my head around the current situation anyway:
if you ask for help in TM's official forum they advise you to go to Cougar World
(read: their forum isn't meant to provide support anyway,
and their modeators don't have the slightest idea or technical understanding anyway),
with Cougar World stating that it's not in any way "official" or related to TM -
IMHO Guillemot / TM should gladly host CW to say THX for hiding their incompetence...

As for the quality of the used components...
well, I do remember that the 1st ones to even dare wonder
about obviously misaligned switches, spiky pots or bad soldering and loose cables
happened to get flamed and burned on that very instant -
in the meantime, TM and the Cougar-crew have admitted that there are issues...
well, it might be a lil' too much asked to fix 'em
as long as you can easily  fix 'em yourself
via any combination of the various mods available
for a reasonable  price: only around twice as much as a stock Cougar  ,
so why should anybody really expect TM to fix it for free?
Oh, you've paid for it? Yep, that's right: you already did!
Strange that some users really should expect TM to handle it any different than MS...

Don't get me wrong:
IMHO the Cougar still and nevertheless is the best stick available,
but I do expect TM to fix known issues, flaws and bugs -
the current situation leaves me "not amused",
and I'm seriously considering to leave CW as soon as I'll have finished my current files
(WB3 and AH as some sort of "Good Bye and drop dead but you won't fool me any further!", if you like...)!

FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS BUY TM!
