I would like to see a 'road network' on the terrains.
This one time, I sort of started fantasizing about possible improvements on the strat system - the ideas started flying out, and I couldn't control myself
It first began when I had spawned from a VH to a nearby town. The distance wasn't too far, but the problem was that it was a slanted hill which led towards the direction of the town. Since a 25mph Panzer can go at about only 10~15mph if it has to run slanted, I began complaining how silly that was.. "Geez, what ignoramus would run his tank through hills that had not any roads!"
Then it hit me. I remember playing the Simcity series, and how it handled road placements. Laying out a road, when the road has to be placed along the slope of a hill, it would level the terrain out. So I was thinking "Hey, would there be any reason this feature would not be feasible to AH?".
The problem is that currently in the terrain editor, a 'road' is a special type of terrain interface related only with the strat resupplying system. Another problem is that to 'simulate' a road for GVs, the terrain designer would have to create a certain amount of level terrain conditions all manually before placing a GV spawn point. If the GV spawn is just placed according to its sectoral position after creating the terrain, in many cases there would be troublesome spawn points which has many problems - good in distance, but when someone actually uses it, very tiring.
...
So how about an easier function/feature to create paved roads, as seen in Simcity?
When a road is placed along a slope, it would be levelled out. When a road is placed towards a slope, it's elevation angle would be regulated... as suggested in this pic..
Once it becomes easy to create a wide network of roads, there are variety of possibilities on how it could be utilized to create an even more compelling terrain. For instance, VHs and towns might be placed alongside roads, so it gives an immersive feeling to the ground war - capturing enemy territory, towns and facilities.. following the major roads for advancement.. instead of the four~five zones in Trninty, maybe the zones can be divided into smaller sizes and become more numerous... towns and VHs becoming zone fields which control a few strats linked with three~four fields...
