Keep getting booted out
« on: March 09, 2003, 06:50:49 PM »
Please help. Today I have been repeatedly booted out. As I play my frame rate drops to zero and the computer locks up  - my host connection is lost. When I bring up task manager aces high consumes almost >80% cpu usage. My system is an athlon 2000+ with an ati radeon 9000 pro video card.

I reinstalled aceshigh just to see if it would fix the probelm but it still doesn't. I have also attached a ping plot that I took just after one of the problems.

Any suggestions is most welcomed

Look at the 10th hop on that trace...100% packet loss on AT&T's network cannot be helping you...

JonnyB,

Could the 10th hop be a firewall - i.e. no replies to ping?

I am not really network savvy so this may be wrong. The thing is I have had some plots like this in the past but have never experienced the problem of my machine locking up and my being booted out of the game. I guess one of my questions is : Will aceshigh completely lock up if the network connection becomes lost?

Any suggestions of how I could fix?

Thanks

Thank you all for your help.

Problem was not network related but bios related. When I did the XP restore it obviously did not restore my bios to its previous state (prior to my update). Seems that the new bios had two problems. 1. It measured my cpu temp wrongly and would shut down the computer in the middle of the game and 2. There was a problem with the 4x agp setting - which would cause me to loose frame rate

Thanks

P.S. The game functions well with those same ping plots
