Some Iraqi Soliders Ahead of the Curve ?
« on: March 10, 2003, 08:45:52 AM »
I haven't spent any time looking for a link or a hardcopy of this report, but it was reported on TV by Fox News this Sunday morning.

Evidently, last week sometime, a British Marine Unit (or maybe it was paratroopers) was conducting a live fire exercise in Kuwait near the Iraqi border.

They were quite suprised when several dozen Iraqi soliders showed up holding their hands in the air, smiling, speaking broken english, and waving several large white flags.  The Brits didn't quite know what too do in this case and had to call to higher headquarters for instructions.

Headquarters notified them to tell the Iraqi's to come back in two weeks {Sound familiar? Actually I think it was a few weeks, but the old "two weeks" joke was irresistable}.

It seems that we couldn't accept their surrender because hostilities had not yet begun.

True story as reported on TV at least. :)
