Does anyone know what the "record" for..
« Reply #45 on: March 11, 2003, 09:40:25 PM »
Well in my case it has been more of a matter of being lucky than smart I think... ack not killing me... surviving hits on HO(twice.. always try to avoid but 2 hit me)  no boots or collisions.... no freak 88 hits.. that kind of stuff.  Having run a string to 100, I'm only saying to you that it seems far from easy...I mean I can see how it would be made much easier in a tempest or a 262.. but I've not had an easy time of it in the 51.  Of course, there are no doubt much better pilots out there than me.. maybe it would be easy for one of them... and maybe your one of them  :)

Curly, it's nerve wracking.. until I hit 100 I wasn't worried about gettin blasted..now that I'm actually trying to not die, it's a bit stressful.. I know it's just a game and this may be lame to some people... sorry.

I was at a5 tonight and I swear every fw190, tempest, and pony that was there dove on me and tried to whack me...mommy!!

Yak9u?  Must have taken him a while... short clip and all.

Im not one of them...And u dont have to be a good pilot to do it.  P-51 is probebly one of the easiest to do it with tough,  you can almost outrun every plane except an La7.  All im saying is that it takes a brain to do it, and patience.  Luck may play a small roll in it,  but not as much as the other two.

I was in fishu's squad (Jg52) during the streak.  Last I saw he was in WW2OL.

A few things about his record:

First, those numbers are genuine. Some WB pilot has similar numbers (I think it was toshi or something. The fact it wasn't daddy really irked some 4thmen, which I found particularly satisfying). It was in beta, and I think it may have even been with the 109G10.  And fishu would be the first to say it wasn't dogfighting skill more than discipline.  And I would add -- and a plane capable of climbing out of trouble.
Oh yeah, and he did it flying a keyboard.  He did not have a joystick.
Now that is a legend.

Congrats steve on a 100-kill streak.  The most I've ever had the discipline to do was 15 in a DVII in DOA.

More recently (maybe 2 years ago), Ypsilon got in excess of 100 kills with 0 deaths by flying a Yak9U.  Maybe Ypsilson finished the tour with 0 deaths.  Anyone remember?

That's an amazing demonstration of concentration and dedication.  Doesn't sound  like fun at all. :)

Actually 100+ in YakU is a very good result. It is a vulnerable AC, also not fast enough to keep you out of troubles. Making in in La7 would be much easier.

Way to go Steve.  Impressive, regardless of circumstances.

I wish I could land even half of my sorties.

Remember how CH 6 would announce the kills to the whole arena?

Joe Blow killed by Tom Jones or whatever?

I just remember a few times during the famous beta streak that kills by Fishu ran off in the buffer like a slot machine spilling quarters after hitting a jackpot.

Now, back in them days, you tell me how you'd get 15 kills in 2 or 3 minutes.. and then five more real fast a few minutes later. This while a mass of guys was attacking a field back when ack was lazer deadly.

But feel free to believe whatever you want to believe.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

One airframe best is 35 in a tiffie :) . But Kappa was nearby for much of it, so that helped (and flying as a knight that is).

Ahhh.. the good ole days.  Wait a sec, CH6 announcing kills really wasn't that long ago!  Or was it?  lol.. I feel old... the bones are aching.

When *did* we switch to 'blah landed X kills in blah of blah"?

I agree with WildThing.... if you grab a P-51D and Fly high and pick your fights it shouldn't be too hard to do. Stay inconspicuous and Cherry pick!.... BORING!    :)

I suggest that it might have more significance if the following provisions were made.

#1 A pilot posts on BBS prior to the [START] of the TOD (before they have logged a kill) and state there intention to try for such a record.

#2 For any reason a Ditch, Bail, or a Disco  would count as a DEATH.

If a pilot could achieve 100+ kills in a TOD and survive an active "DWEEB HUNT" it might more of an accomplishment.

Just a Thought :D

Steve Im all for you being all you can be.. you got a nice steak going keep it up...

But i also note you haven't engaged one freaking bomber....

The other day when you about 8k over the enemy and i voxed to ya. and you went up instead of fighting I was wondering what you were doing..  after reviewing your stats its pretty obvious.

Run your streak all you want and hey keep it going...  But youll get alot more respect by engaging the enemy..  Im not saying suicide the enemy Bish lemming style....  Just engage the enemy... and that includes bombers.

this streak of yours its all about respect is what im reading especially in that RPS mega paragraph...

So earn it....

the Fishu technique is frowned upon..  but even fishu has one up on ya he flew the 190a8....

Start doing some p40b missions with me then you will see some real skill...

your KOT goes to crap alting to a meager 4k and then your plane disadvantage to boot...  dont forget that the value is higher or equal to better planes...  but thats just icing ...

the sharkmouth does dive well and saddles pretty good...

my streak is 2 - 0 and climbing...  care to join...

:p

Not a bash steve just take the pain...

Cruisin for streaks requires a fast plane and alot of patience....flyin in crowds of your fellow countrymen doesn't hurt either.

Btw Steve...not knockin what your doin...if you're havin fun then that's what it's all about....you should try to streak in a P-40....would mean a little more than in the pony.:)
