What kind of game controllers do you use?
« on: March 11, 2003, 03:28:00 AM »
I was wondering.. you use stick?  yoke? game paddle?

Im trying to decide what to get.  The only thing I love more than flight sims are driving/racing games (MCO goig offline.. whaa!).
For games like AH, I would rather use a stick than a wheel-type yoke.  Problem is, this worsens my driving experience.  I know most yokes can double as steering wheels, and rudder = brake & gas... My little brother simply got a dual analog controller, but AH automatically assigns the right stick to rudder and throttle (very annoying, IMO)

Anyone else into driving too?  What do you you have?

As for now, I use my old-assed Thrustmaster Formula T2 wheel for driving, and my mouse for AH.  And I am sick of using the mouse.

CH Jane's F-16 Combat Stick, CH modified Pro Throttle (has 48 buttons instead of 24) and CH Pro Pedals (all analog).  Hooked up to a Rockfire analog game port to USB adaptor.

I remember i landed a Ju88 without Elevators and ailrons. I had to stear only with rudder. Nose up and down with flaps and throttle.
I have no pic to prove it. I was to bzy on my controls. No time to make a screenie

At home, I use this:

When I'm on the road and need something more portable, I pop this guy into my luggage:

When those guys don't do it for me, of course, I've always got 'old faithful':

For Flying:  CH USB stuff:  Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, Pro Pedals.

For Driving:  Logitech Wingman Formula Force (current version is called the Momo I think).  I don't use the Logitech pedals.  Instead I put the CH pedals into driving mode (lock the rudder axis) and map throttle and brake to them.  They give me a lot more precise control than the Logitech pedals.  I love the Logitech wheel though.

PS  If you get CH stuff make sure you get USB not gameport models.
