Bobby Knight gives back salary
« on: March 11, 2003, 07:20:28 AM »
Anyone else catch this story? Apparently Bobby Knight refused compensation for this season because he felt he didn't get the most out of his team.

My question:
Honesty, attempt to motivate team, or media ploy?

10% honesty, 10% motivation, 80% media ploy.  Strangling kids doesn't do much for popularity.

Yeah, I think it was triggered by a "Failure to make enough of an bellybutton out of yourself" clause. Also, he didn't meet his chair throwing quota this season.

not as big of a sacrifice as you might think.  I'd heard that he has outside income that is much more than his salary.
