For me, at least, this CT setup is the first that has really featured Wildcat v. Zeke combats on a regular basis.  Seems to work out just as it did in the real world.  One-on-one, the Wildcat is doomed unless it starts with an energy, position or pilot advantage of some sort.  So the Wildcats start working together, or flying way the heck out over the water to get an alt advantage (where are those coastwatchers when we need them?), and then the plane's strengths of high-speed controllability and superior armament make it very hard to be Japanese.  I like the way that AH gets us to do that whole deja vu thing.

Or is this just me?

I don't know about the strength aspect of the F4F, Oldman.  They seem to come apart fairly easy when shot up from my Zeke's convergence of 150 to 200 yards :D

Now if I can only manage to avoid hitting all those parts and downing myself at the same time, I might get to land some kills. hehe

Most the fights I've been in this week were with me at alt advantage, versus two or more F4F's.  You're right that the lower plane is dead meat, regardless if it's Allied or Axis.  Only times I died, other than hitting plane parts, is when I was lower. :o

Oh.... the humility of it all...:(

I was thinking about this very thing.  I was wondering if some setups could not have "squadron areas" to enhance matchups.  Like one sector patrolled predominantly by Hurris, another by P-40 squadrons, etc.

What I often see is not squadron type engagements but people "gaming" the CT by getting one-two punchers (Yaks and La-5/7s anyone? or Wildcats/Corsairs) on a one dimensional foe.

I enjoyed fighting the F4s last night in a Val, you'd never get to do that in the MA.  I had I think only one successful mission by some standards, to me they were all great successes simply because of the terrain and the foes encountered.

Slot definitely one of my favorite arenas, due to the enhanced probability of seeing Wildcats.

It has been a great week in the CT for me.   At first I was concerned how the two would match up, but I find it seems to match history very well.

I wonder how the P-40B would stack up against the D3A as a Ki.27 substitute?

Hummm p40b vs D3A I think the D3A wins p40b will have to get real slow to saddle up on a D3A and even if the p40 tries to B&Z the D3A can still dodge it at will then it would be tough and ya know what happens when a p40 gets that slow well it aint pretty I can assure ya.

Would be and interesting match up though.
