So, how do you feel about killshooter then?
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

We already have no icons for enemy GV's if you are also in another GV. If you mean no icons for enemy GV's period I'd go along with that as long as GV's don't see enemy icons on planes either.

Yeah get rid of plane icons for gvs. I hate trying to rearm my Ju-88 while some dweeb in a panzer that couldnt hit the wide side of the death star at 100 meters gets laser rangefinder accuracy.

I'd go a step further and say no enemy icons at all.

This would bring alot of 'realism' to the game. I'd like to see just the tail be red or green. Then be able to make your squad's tail white or something. It'd be a whole new ballgame. Much more difficult without the plane id and rangefinder.

All you would have to do to see no enemy icons is hit the keys  (Alt+I) until you see in the text box the orange word "Icons off". Your icons will be completely off, but the enemy can still see your icon.

You have no idea how much more difficult it is IRL to spot another plane. Not even to speak of judging distances and rates of closure.

Animal went over this subject very extensively.  Look it up.

If you think that the computer screen is providing anywhere near the information or SA that you have in reality you are deluding yourself.

I agree that the range counter should disappear below 1000 yards, but other than that you're wrong.

Did a search for animal and icons - nothing.

I do not disagree that the computer screen provides less information. IRL it is no doubt easier to ID planes than on screen (where it is nearly impossible from further than 1k out).

But there is no way IRL to scan 360 of the airspace up to 4000 yards out within 1 second like you can in AH.

You can only do that in AH due to the icons and the liberal view system.

Without icons ito would not be possible to get any idea if you were catching or being outrun by a single engined fighter beyond 1,500 or 2,000 yards.

This is not a problem in reality.

Icons are an imperfect solution to a very real problem.  Denying that there is a problem doesn't make it go away.  I, for one, do not want to play "Dot Chaser High".

no icons, especially for gv's? bad idea. Less informative icons? I could like that, kinda like getting a prize in a box of cereal when you open it! I can see it now -- 'think i'll take out this p47 hehe'; 'oops! crap! a 190 with E!'
