say has Meigs Field been closed yet? I believe it's right by Shedd Aquarium along the waterfront.

Cutting out drinking and good food, well that just leaves music and museums. Unfortunatley, music usually involves drinking and good food.

It'a bit too early to make outdoors easy, but Chicago is a beautiful city on a sunny, mild day with a lot of shopping on Michigan and State Streets, you can hit Buddy Guy's Legends Downtown too (come early to get a seat). There are river tours etc. but a bit early for those, same with the open bus tours. Lots of good bar and entertainment strips, but not their thing. As already sid:

Sears Tower or Hancock Bldg for overview of city

Museum of Science and Industry
Field Museum
Shedd Aquarium
Adler Planetarium

There are also a lot of small, universty related museums covering niche areas.

There is the McCormick Mansion of Robert R. McCormick, Tribune founder, and a seperate 1st Div. Museum on the property in honor of his WW1 service as an Arty officer. Nice combo package, with one for the guys and one for the wives (out West in the  Naperville/Wheaton suburbs).

Gold Coast for fine but expensive dining

Navy Pier for the tourist thing

Chicago is a great town - there are MANY things to do.  Almost every museum in the city is top notch.  Try the Field Museam, Shead Aquarium, and Museam of Science and Industry (planitarium aint that bad either)

Before they leave, inform them that they HAVE to get a hotdog at Portillos.

Museum of Science and Industry

It has one of the best preserved U boats in the world on display. There are only like 5 in the world now, most were sunk after WW2 off the coast of England. Very cool. Worth the trip to the place alone

Papaduexs in Arlington is the best seafood restaurant I have been to anywhere. But Arlington is quite a hike from the downtown so probably not worth it if they are staying downtown.

The Motel 6 in Arlington is a great place to stay if you have a car. You can get downtown in under an hour and it is a nice place. They have a Denny's nearby and tons of other places to eat.

I like went to a place called the Webber Grill downtown for steaks. It was cool they cook them in large versions of the famous Webber Grill. But the best thing about this place is they have a very good breakfast if you are up early and downtown.

Hari Kareys is a good bar downtown. Was owned by the old voice of the Chicago Cubs.

There is another cool bar downtown that I forget the name of. It is a brew pub and has pool tables. I go there everytime I am in town but usually at the end of the night so I forget the name. It is just around the corner from the Webber Grill. Big place with 2 levels.

Bachelor's Grove Cemetary in the Rubio Woods Forest Preserve, Midlothian Township to the southwest of Chicago, is said to be one of the most haunted places in the United States.  I went there in broad daylight and found it spooky.  Mwaaahaahaahaa
