The family car when I was a little one was a 1962 Pontiac Catalina.  Two tone red/white and I'd hack off a nut to have that baby now. GrandDad had a 1949 Buick Super.. the thing was monsterous, and would glide like on air.

What were the cars in your families that you wish you could have now?

Just bought a 76 Triumph 2500TC yesterday for $800 as a project car, so I have the old car thing. (Slightly shorter V6 model to the Stag)

Things in his day that I would like to see again are Garage attendants washing windows and checking oil at Service Stations.

Real Toys for kids made of metal and not plastic.

Women who liked to dress like women.

and Drivein Theatres :) How I miss them.

I was young, but his Dodge Charger.  I have no clue about the year, but it was the same body style as the Dukes Of Hazard's "General Lee", only a different color.

1967 Daimler Jaguar. Looked like the Jaguar Mk2 but had the ususal Daimler fluting over the radiator grille. Had a 2½ litre V8 engine. (The Jag. Mk2 had a choice of 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8 and were all straight 6) AFIK all the Daimler Jaguars were automatic. Dad's was. It was a colour similar to British Racing Green with tan interior. Mum hated it because the boot (trunk) was so small and we had to have a roofrack when we went on holiday. I liked it because it was fast!

My dad had a 1967 Ford Shelby Mustang GT-500.  My grandmother blew the water hose on it one day and melted the engine.  :(

when I was an infant my dad had a '41 chevy sedan with a 270 inch GMC six punched out to 310..  it had an isky cam that him and iskendarian talked about in ed's office... it had 3 downdraft strombergs and a split exaust manifold with straight pipes all the way out to the bumper... typical nosed and shaved and all that and... black.   The car to beat was the flathead V8 and this car would do it.  he has recently done a '40 clone car.

Dad had a '41 Buick for years, then one day picked me up at school with a new '55 Ford V8 stick. Few years later he had a '56 Chrysler Newport with the little shifter arm on the dash. His favorite was the Ford, used to complain about the Chrysler not being able to get out of it's own way.

Laz, that Chevy your dad had musta sounded wonderful. Friend of mine had a setup like that (without the 3 Strombergs) and the sound that car made is imbedded.
