This is not necessary!
1. Go to C:\Windows\inf
2. open the inf folder and find these 4 files
nv3.inf
nv3.pnf
nv4.inf
nv4.pnf
3. Now rename them like this:
nv3.i_f
nv3.p_f
nv4.i_f
nv4.p_f
This just stopped XP from loading the default 21.83's without Open GL support.
4. Download the new drivers and extract them to a folder that you know where is. If they are a .exe file leave it on the desktop.
5. Now go uninstall the drivers from Add/Remove Programs and reboot as it tells you to.
6. When it reboots the wizard will launch. Big thing here is to tell it you will show XP where the drivers are. Don't panic! You really can't screw it up much from here. You need to lead it to the folder where your downloaded drivers are at. When you do you will see the nv4_disp.inf. Double click on it. XP will tell you the drivers are unsigned, select Continue anyway. Keep saying OK and reboot as required.
If it's a .exe close out the wizard and double click the .exe. reboot when it tells ya to.
7. Now adjust your Refresh rate and add any "tweaks" like VSYNC, Anti-Aliasing etc.
8. If you want to, go back and rename the inf and pnf files you modified. It's not necessary. ALWAYS keep System Restore on and set a restore point. U been Warned.
9. For those of you that are ahhh.....expierenced. Here are the drivers I use:
http://www.omegacorner.com/ I played the new beta driver every week, run the madonion benchmark game for 3 years. Found the Omega drivers and have stayed with him. He uses Nvidias drivers then tweaks them in 2 versions. Performance and Quality. I run the Quality drivers. The only thing you can mess with is VSYNC and Anti-Aliasing. Anything else defeats his "tweaked" drivers. I run a Gainward Power Pak Golden GeForce 3 card. Everything maxed out I still get 68 plus FPS in AH. The textures are excellent. you otta see Ut2003. Omega drivers COMPLETELY uninstall the old and load the new. There is a BIOS tweak that he reccommneds prior to installing his drivers to further optimize the drivers. READ THE README

ATI drivers are available from Omega Corner too! Don't know nuthin' 'bout ATI....Yet

Works here! Good Luck,
