Fear
« on: March 17, 2003, 04:12:32 PM »
seems like a lot of it going around...

fear of a war,
fear of a crashed economy,
fear of WMD's,
fear that someone (government) might be eroding some of your personal freedoms,

what drives you ?

Hope.

Hope that there will be peace in the future, for my kids to enjoy.

I know it won't happen in my lifetime, but I hope my generation will be the generation to bring peace and prosperity globally.

"what drives you?"

The desire to eat corn dogs and drink dr. pepper...and the appeal of enjoying the ride for as long as it lasts.

I fear I will never learn to truly like the B&Z aspect of AH.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Maybe I'm speaking out of turn here, but I bet most people my age or older probably have a more optomistic view of things.

Those of us who remember the "duck and cover" drills, or the air raid siren tests ..(yes children, we had siren tests).. have to feel like we beat the odds. There used to be much more of a sense of forboding about the future. I think we're gonna be OK.

Was there really anyone here who thought they were going to live forever? To everything there is a season. :D'

Even if it all goes down the dumper, I at least got to "autumn".

Tough luck fer the rest of you saplings. :D

you and me both bro...

was funny the other day Toad... my boss didn't belive I worked on a spy plane during the cold war..
till my description showed up on the news!  lol

kinda brought me back though.. thinking about that job
and how much fear I had back then.
and here I am, and 'old' man now.. when there was a time I wondered if I'd live to be 25
