Reminds me of a skit I saw a while back.....

"He's not gay, he's just really really British!"

Its because the british accent does not lend itself to tough cool-talk.

They are cursed with shakespeare hehehe.

I liked the Queens words far more than Bush's though. Bush repeats himself so much my ears bleed during his 4 minute speeches.

I think Americans are more motivated by the jeering-cheering speeches, not the calm and collected stuff.

Kind of the same way that tingle goes up your spine when you hear a fighter jet roar by you in full afterburners.

OIO,

watch the film 'Snatch' and then try to say that again.

[Thick Cockney accent - no not the one Dick Van Dijk tries]
"Do you know what the word Nemesis means?   Nemesis, the deliverance of rightous retribution from an appropriate source.  Personified in this case by me, an 'orrible  bigtoe."

General Patton's Address to the Troops, June 5, 1944

You've never actually heard sound bites of Patton speaking, he makes Mike Tyson sound like Barry White.

i dunno how he being five foot nothing could motivate troops.

I can't imagine Russian officers or generals saying such things to the media. They talk in a way to show they just do their job, no foot-stomping, chest-thumping and "kill em all" shouts.

Such words make "coalition" commanders look like murderers to me. Just my HO. I will never understand such things. They have orders and directions, they simply have to do what they are supposed to, without all that rhethorics about "hammer time" or "nemesis". Such words should be said by stinky politicians.

Damn, they don't even fight for their land and security of their people... Good addition to the agressor's image.

Theres 2000 Aussies in the Combat line also you know.

If we'd have heard either speech, no doubt there would have been a quick turn of the head to the bloke on the side and a small whisper of....  "bananas"

Hey Turboy, et al

You have me all wrong.  I think that Patton speech is kick ass.  It is pure cowboy and pure brilliance in firing up his troops. I honestly felt like kicking a German in the balls after reading it!

But, what is better for a public display on the news that your entire country is watching, that..or something a tad more tactful?

No offense to cowboys or Americans meant at all.

I like being a real cowboy.

Emphasis on "Real" cowboy.  I live in Nebraska and was raised on the farm.

Not that I advertise it much.  I don't like the hat or the boots.  I ride a Four-wheeler, not a horse.

But we do exist.
