Can the Axis win?
« on: March 24, 2003, 07:52:16 PM »
It's a simple question.  Is the progress of the different Tours of Duty in this new game going to follow history, or will victory in an early time period affect the status of the next time period?  For example, take the Battle of France.  Instead of assuming that...eventually...the Germans overrun France, the next ToD would feature France still under control of the British and French, battling to invade Germany itself.

That also assumes that the ToD arena will have consecutive theatres of operation, instead of jumping around to different locations and time periods of the Second World War.

I'm guessing not.  I'm just curious if I am wrong.

Theres no war to win.

The game wont be setup where a few pilots flying a few sorties will win ww2 by capturing x base or bombing x building or shooting down x planes. Thats not real or is it realistic to expect that from a game.

How you win is by individual performance. Its not about base capture or which side shoots down the most planes.

So say a BoB set up wont prep the way for a "make believe" operation seelowe or will the lw take over the Soviet union.

Thats not immersive or real.

Immersion is found in the mission and the tactics and "type of flying" in the mission.

The war is something abstract that just a back drop to the "fight". So a Med Theater (set up) wont be focussed on destroying Rommel and pushing him out of NA. It will focus on small segements in which your mission is the priority.

So dont worry about "war winning" and try to think about surviving and completing the mission successfully. That way we all win.
