why switch countries?
« on: March 28, 2001, 08:43:00 AM »
BK's switched last night.   In this new era of (choke) realistic strat we have decided to switch to whatever country still has dar and fuel.   that is the criteria we used last nite and it worked well.   cut down on the frustration... met new people etc.   We are not adverse to switching every nite if we have at least 4 or so guys up.   Hopefully, the logistics of this will not get too tangled as it does require some organization and we are... To say the least, "lacking" in that dept.

I would suggest others try it tho as a way to lowere frustration levels.

rats abandoning a sinking ship.. excellent strategy.

I'd like to point out that not all squads switch because of base count.  Some pick a country and stick with it until a specified date.  They get to meet all the new people without abandoning them when things get tough.

There are also some that stick with the same country all the time.  These squads also experience the thick and thin situations with dedication.

There are even squads that will switch to the underdog to help out in times like last night.  These are squads that feel they can help despite the odds.

3 of the 4 types of squads I salute.

Great!  This is just what we the MA needs, a squad promoting defections when "their" country is losing!

I used to think sticking with a country till the bitter end was a noble cuase. Not anymore. My squad still does and we stick through whatever country were with through thick and thin, but I like the way the BK's do it also. Every night I have logged on since becoming a Nit we have been getting pounded by both the Rooks and Bishops who both have more numbers than the Nits. I guess its just human nature for the big bullie to pick on the little guy but it doesn't make for a fun night. Not if your into organizing countries into a base taking machine. On nights like this I either log or just get into a really fast plane and B&Z and run once you've got 5 guys on your six with no help around. Either way I'm all for the way the BK's are handling their situation. Why not switch if your country is getting gangbanged by greater numbers and you don't have a base that has gas or isn't getting vulched by five  planes that you can't even get off the ground. Lately I have watched buffs range far and wide and just go around taking out the FH's or the gas at all of our fields. Its a good strategy as you cant hardly kill a buff and they shut down your fields this way. Your players get frustrated and log off, or come up a field with little gas IF the Fh aren't smokin.

This GAME is all about having fun and I cant have fun without having a fair and even shot at the other guy. Five to one odds and two or three bases getting nailed by BOTH you enemy countries is not fun to me. Switch if if this makes it even for your squad OR if your a loner. Whatever it take to have fun.

I think I'll bring this up with my squad as it might help us to have a little more fun also.

LLB OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see nothing wrong with switching countries if you're not having fun in the country you're in.  That's what I do.

But instead of switching to the country that has dar (which, I admit, sounds very appealing to me), I switch to the country that has more targets.  I find it less boring being gangbanged than competing over scraps.

llb... exactly.

deja.... who in their right mind would cultivate your "respect"?   I certainly laugh at the idea of having a lousy time in order to garner your worthless "respect".   Guys that have earned real respect in this GAME were involved... instigated... this new policy of the BK's.

This is a game.   It has many aspects that are gimicky and spoil the fun of certain styles.  It is by far more fun (for us)to find a country with resources so that we can choose our type of fun.... so that we have some options.   We had more fun last nite and more  evenly matched fites than we have had for weeks.   We refuse to be martyrs like some of the amish twits that have responded so far.

It's all about choice... No radar, no resources and being hit from both sides equals no fun and no choices for us.

We are merely circumventing (to the best of our ability) some of the more ludicrous and unfun features of the GAME.   The country we joined seemed happy enough to have us... The one we left never even noticed.

Sorry lazs, but your original post pretty much sums you up entirely.

At the root of all your complaints is one simple idea.  You want kills fast and you want them to be easy.

I'm sure there was no lack of targets on either front for the knits last night, but you chose to leave.  Why?  Because there was nobody to fight.. or because there were too many to fight?

Instead, you go to rook and all fly as a group hanging in hords waiting for solo planes to come in... ah.. now there is fun.  Fighting over the few stray enemies that arrive.

Yes.. its all about having fun.  And fun for you is having easy kills lined up in front of you with minimal risk to yourself.  God forbid you should have to work for anything.

You represent the welfare recipients in AH.  You want everything handed to you by everyone else in the arena with no intention of working.  If things get too tough, you move to where they are easier.

I don't expect you to feel you need to earn anyone's respect.  I don't even expect you to understand the meaning of the word.

deja you pompous twit.... you have no idea what we did last nite even though you should have.   For someone doing a 13 tas imitation you sure are selfrightious.

where you get off on telling anyone what they are doing and/or thinking is beyond me.  I'm telling you that we had good fairly even fites for a change.   The one time we fought your squad you guys came in AS A GROUP at multiple  K above everyone and we had to climb up to you to slaughter you.  You friggn hypocrite.  You are the one who flew for bishop with all the advantages.  But ya know what?   Who gives a damn what you do... We only care what we are doing and how much fun we are having.

We are making the best of a bad situation.  You are adding nothing to the thread.   You don't say what you want only that we shouldn't do what is allowed by the GAME...

So.... Some features of the GAME are acceptable to you but others aren't?   Are you perhaps claiming that the GAME is not perfect?   That it may be gimicky in some way?   Spit it out!
