Lake Arena
« on: May 08, 2001, 08:40:00 PM »
I've been getting some complaints on this Arena from the squad as far as fun wise, and I was wondering if anyone else was. I know Pyro, I think said that they were going to switch tours on the Island terrain and this one,but I don't know for how long, I'm not sure.I'm showing lower numbers in my squad this month than ever, because they really don't care for this terrain.

Basicly, with the reason up above, this terrain is not working with my squad. ( in the sence that some of the don't like it)  I was wondering if any other squads were suffering the same neglect of participation in the game.

If this thread was discused before. I did not see it. Just give me the previous thread and I will reply

I prefer other terrains over this one.

But it won't stop me from flying.

This one is much preferrable to the lake map. I actually meet planes over land heading for a field, instead of dweeb cv'ing ack hugging their way everywhere. Personally, I think that due to the cv dweebing the lake map isn't very good.

Now, the o.ld one, the pre cv map, anyone remember that one? Which initially had a1 at 10 (and that started off a1 syndrome thingy)?

Aaah, the goold old days

I like this map more than the islands map, and it seems to me that I'm seeing more of my squaddies up lately then I have in a while.  Or maybe I'm just flying more?

S!

This map is favoring more GV's and fights are at higher altitude.GV's have increased a lot and Attack missions are a must now to keep the base up.Also Buffs seem to operate more, since there are elevated fields within reasonable range of the front.
Only thing I dislike is the bottom corner.U get banged there all the time.Well..we have been banged even at upper corner  But definitely we could use a new map with the 1.07...

They're just jealous SOB,  'cause they know who gets all Squiddy's love & attention

(Knights have receiver reports of a strange Bishop pilot "bonding" with the lake Beast)

This map is better than the CV_zap_U_dead_ack_gotcha_map. ..

yep... i agree.  without the carriers playing as a real factor there is nothing but a bunch od useless fields.   You might have 4 fields deep with de-roofed fighter hangers.   Long flights to find that the enemy field is devoid of cons except osties.   a real drag.

with the carriers you have in effect "fields" that stay open for fighters longer and the fight concentrates more evenly around them.  here.... it is gangbang or be gangbanged.

i hear that field capture is on the "short list" of bugs to be fixed.

I've only played two terrains, island and lake.

The people I play with don't care much for the Lake terrain.  They say it channels the fight too rigidly.

I like the map for GV's.  Anything that widens the vehicles involved in the conflict is a good thing, imo.  However, I can't understand why there is not a new terrain with every tour.  There are apparently some very talented terrain builders in the community.

Maybe someone could enlighten me.  What is so difficult about HTC playtesting and deploying a new terrain every month?

Side note:  Take a close look at the placement of factories/cities/HQ in this map.  The city for the NW corner is over a full quad further south than for the NE.  The same sites for the South are almost unapproachable.

Overall, I think that BOTH terrains are seriously flawed.

But I'm still playing in them

Lake sucks, Ndisles is okay, but we need a bigger choice. WB's beats AH hands down in this dept.
