Does anyone watch monster garage with Jesse James?

Did anyone watch last nights episode where they took an RX7 and turned it into a mono-wheeled dune buggy?

Well at the end of the show, he (Jesse James) races this thing and looses to two other dune buggies. He then shows up with a suburban with a freaking 30 caliber minigun sticking up out of the roof and proceeds to shoot his mono-wheel dune buggy up.

He must've shot 15,000 rounds rounds into this thing. It was pretty cool (especially since he did it at dusk/evening). How does one go about getting a minigun like that. Wouldn't hardware of that nature be strictly limited to the military?

I found it surprising that if it was indeed "borrowed" or on loan from the military, that they would give access to that type of gun.

It was impressive tho

I know Hollywood builds a lot of guns it can't get through normal retail channels, such as the vintage WW2 and Vietnam-era weapons used in movies. These weapons typically aren't designed to fire live ammunition. Maybe he got a real one on loan from a military source or maybe it was Hollywood trickery using blanks and pyrotechnics imbedded under the RX-7's paint.

One that I know of is owned by a gent named Dillon who owns a reloading supply company based in Phoenix Arizona. It's good that he has the reloading stuff as he would need to do a LOT of reloading to feed that lil baby!

I know of two people who privately own mini-guns. One of them provides weapons for Hollywood and this gun was used in Predator. It's a real mini, although its ROF has been slowed some. I shot it once. Lot's o' fun

BTW, owning one of those is the same process as owning any other fully auto weapon. Fill out the paperwork, send it in to the ATF with $200, wait for them to do a background check on you, and then, after they approve your application, go pick it up from whoever is selling it. Of course, mind you, there aren't that many for sale

That's just to buy it. Depending on what state you live in... you may never be able to fire it or possibly even import it into the state.

The recoll from a 7.62 mini guns on a UH-1 Huey is heavy. The entire airframe shakes and the mounts are very stiff. There is no way in the world a man could hold and fire it due to the high rate of fire.

The M-60 fires at a much much slower rate of fire as a squeak to fire off hand and the muzzle climbs fairly fast and will take you off target pritty quick.

I think the GE mini fires something like 2000 rpm ( this is the one in the AC-130)

Don't confuse Hollywood with RL
