sorry conduct in the MA
« on: March 26, 2003, 01:16:08 PM »
I had something happen last night I don't ever recall in 10 yrs of flying online simm's...is this common??

I upped from a carrier to recon enemy counters near port on DAR (forget exactly where)...located enemy carrier near port with 3-4 cons upping...called out contact (text) to other pilot up and moved in. Engaged lead plane (happened to be TBM)...he actually wanted to go some ACM (was pretty good to)...went a few rounds to bleed him out and saddled up about 150 out only to have other "team member" zoom in and pop him...OK...so I reorient my SA and also notice this guy has zoomed back on the perch and behind me 4-5k. Start to crcle to gain alt and SA...notice 3-4 cons inbound plus lower contact coming to jabo...dive on him and get expected break up and in (pony)...force him to evade couple times and stall him out...again 250-300 out and in comes my "buddy" again to pop the guy...leaving the other conshe could of engaged alone...go on text buffer to ask what is up and get waxed...not even a 6 call.

Anyway MOG is the individual in question...to me this is exactly the guy I'd like to see on the other side...no place for him on mine.

More than common, it's the norm in the MA. There are some who will ask if you need help or that will just cover your 6 while you fight...not too many in the MA but they are there.

In a larger furball with alot of #'s it's fine (really unavoidable)...and having multiple guys engage the same target is common. But having someone intentionally cherry pick under the circumstances above is something I've never really noticed before. If killshooter wasn't on I'd of hosed him myself.

I have had guys take advantage of my flying in that way once or twice.  I have often  seen guys ignore the dangerous enemy and try to kill the one I was finishing off. But not a pattern like what you saw where he perches up and waits for you to set up another one for him.
lame.

Sounds like classic Loose Deuce from Shaw's book.  Arenas are a team sport.  If you want 1v1, hit the Dueling Arena or check out Exile's ladder.

Only people that you can count on giving you 6's would squaddies or just a wingman.

funkedup...

lose duece is a coordinated tactic between wingies...in a lose duece the wing would not role in on a saddled up lead...he would wait for the lead to take the shot..the lead would role out if the target evades and cover the wingie as he engages. There is a world of difference....certainly this isnt a big deal, but it was lame enough to warrant a bit of publicity...least to me. I simply went somewhere else.

There are 2 solutions:

1) Kill faster
2) Fly alone

Sounds like he'd make a good wingie. As long as he learns to give 6 calls and you trade places every kill or 2 it'd be great. Otherwise I'd go fly somewhere else or reup and do the same thing to him.

Even better is when they cut in front of you just as you open fire, not only stealing the kill, but killshooting you.  Happened to me the other day.  Unfortunately, I didn't get his license plate number.

3rd solution - fly Rooks.  We've been down for so long that the "steal a kill" flyboys were weeded out 6 months ago.  Being consistently outnumbered 2:1 means that cooperation is the only means of survival for us.

And the cheap Tiger tanks and F4U-1Cs are a bonus.

Obviously the guy has some talent...it's not easy to time that type of attack that well...so he's in practice. All in all I think gofaster had the best solution...rooks here I come. I happened to be assigned to the Bisquits when I reupped so I've stayed...originally I flew knights since they were always the smallest segment...I'd figured I'd bounce a bit anyway...don't think I've ever been a rook:)

The best are the ones who pounce on a tail-less (or wingless) plane like a chiuhaua on a chair leg lol.
