Hmmm.....Being new I love having so many people to play with.  Better than where I came from, with the same 45-90 people max.  Not much fun playing in a ghost town.  Sooooo much more to do and folks to do it with here.

Maybe I'll get bored with AH on down the road.  I doubt it.  Is there something wrong with the CT?  Want a smaller fight or less people on the server why not go there?

OBTW - I hope booyall1 is an international client or very young as his spelling and use of the English launguage was ahhhhhh scary. :(

Semantics,..I take 'shine on' to mean leadling people around with rose colored glasses.

I didn't mean for the entire post to be directed at you,..but that was my fault.  Same for you SLO.

The community has a couple of very good ways to get problems to use.  The Bug Reports forum is a good way.  Email/Phone calls, all work too.
Due to the complexity of the game, films are sometimes the only way a bug/issue can be found.  Of course, the community is in a much better position for those as we cannot be online 24/7.

Skurj,..that would open up so many more problems, but I am glad folks are thinking about it.

I never brought up the details, why did you go right to connection?  I have a DSL connection with with no packet loss and I had major issues regarding connection.  Barney, take your foot out of your mouth and fingers out of your ears.

We have not changed servers nor settings on the server for quite some time.

Understanding a problem and being able to duplicate it are tantamount before working to correct a problem.  The understanding of problems and being able to duplicate them require quite a bit if information.
Eliminating potential causes of problems will always be the first step.  This requires a lot of data about the remote computer system involved.  While going through the data collection process, if some things appear which could have a potential effect on the game, I will point it out.
It may not have a bearing on the problem, but working towards eliminating anything that could have a bearing on a problem is the always the first thing done when tracking down potential issues.
This does not mean we are pointing a finger at anyone's computer.  It is just a process one goes through when trying to help resolve issues.

Is the game perfect?  No.  Are there problems?  Yes.  Do we work towards resolving them?  Yes.  Resolving problems takes a fair amount of effort, not only from HTC, but from the client as well.
Sometimes problems are quickly resolved, other times they are not.

We constantly look at better ways to do things.  We are in the process of putting in another server at St. Louis.  This server will be running Solaris.   We did work with the FreeBSD people to get MySQL stable, but the changes made to the OS had side-effects we are not happy with.
Will this make it better?  Hard to say.  We hope it will, but until we see the loads and what effect they have, we will not know.
Simulating a load on a server very seldom approaches what really happens once a server is in real use.
We have also identified another problem which has an impact on the login of the client.  We have taken preliminary steps to correct that as well.  This same issue could be causing the text lag from time to time.  We are still investigating this.

We are not perfect and do not pretend to be perfect.  Most of the time, mutual effort is required to correct problems, regardless where they may be.  If either party in that exchange closes thier mind, or becomes angry, then it usually will result in no progress being made and mutual frustration ocurring.

No arguement there, however, you never told me that you were working with them.  You sure as heck didn't tell me that you resolved the problem.  You did tell me you had a problem with them too.  It just majically happened that everything started working.  When I have a problem with a user here at the office, I keep them informed 100% of the time, even if the party responsible for fixing the problem is in another group.  When the communication breaks down people get irritated.  This is why I started getting frustrated.

for the record, a lot of us came over from other 'sims' due to the fact that HTC's service record can't be beat by any current provider... hands down the best team IMO.

No argument there, however improvements can be made, in areas that are weak.  Such as communication, while albeit not bad, but could be better.

Yeah I'd like to see abit more communication from HTC as well, Skuzzy tries, but he can't do it alone.

SKurj

Nope, he can't, but he does a good job trying.  Perhaps an assistant might be in order.
