I have np with the lagg's or any other plane except the I16. What bs that a wooden plan like that eats so many 2cm and can fly on.
They only seem to go down if you kill the pilot. I lit one a flame and could not finish him. He eventually burnt up but its bs. I am flying a 109e in the Crimea and those I16s just wont go down.
I play on full real so I am not sure about exact range but I fire cannons and mg seperate to be able see over the stupid hollywood gun flash bs.
I saved the track on 1 and when I reviewed it I counted over 68 hits of mgff/m on 1 I16. He never went down. I ran out of ammo and rtb'b.
in 8 missions I have 6 kills vrs I16s. I saddled up on atleast 20 and scored good hits.
Another thing that pisses me off about ai is that the I16 will go into a slight turn and the ai will get in close and fire but never land hits they just spray until their ammos gone.
Also the ai that does really stupid stuff like jump in front of you when you are locked onto an enemy or fire from behind you and actually hit you. I had a whole flight of he111s crash into each other. Also ai when hit and gets medium damage (oil hit rad etc....) sometimes then dont try to ditch on friendly territory even though they are close. They dont try to ditch in areas with out trees, they just crash right into them.
Then jabo planes dont break off their runs when attacked they fly straight and level and get shot down one after another.
AI does throw out good fights, I had 1 I16 do a double immelman on me. But theres really no intelligence in the "ai".
From the Read Me
The ones highlite are my settings
You can adjust some parameters in a dynamic campaign to increase performance or to modify a level of challenge by adding the following lines to the end of file conf.ini (capitalization is important!):
1. To adjust a number of planes and groups of planes, you can set:
AirIntensity=Low
AirIntensity=High
In addition to reduction of size of plane formations, on low air intensity there will be no random flight groups - those that are not directly connected to your mission
2. To adjust a number of ground objects, you can set:
GroundIntensity=Low
GroundIntensity=High
On low intensity you will see ground objects only in target area and around active airfields
By default there are also ground objects around your route, but the number of moving objects is limited.
On high ground intensity, all targets of opportunity in a corridor from your airfield to the destination are included.
3. To set your preferred distance to target, set
MissionDistance=nn (i set mine to 60 km but you still have long missions)
Where nn is the distance in kilometers that you prefer to fly to your target. It is not guaranteed that there will be suitable targets in this distance, so you may receive missions with different length of your route.
4. You may increase or decrease a level of friendly and enemy AI by setting
CampaignDifficulty=Easy
CampaignDifficulty=Hard
Easy settings will add one level to all friendly groups and decrease enemy experience. Hard settings do the opposite.
Still I dont wanna sound like I am ragging on the game its lotsa fun. AI has given me fights that have been the best I ever had vrs ai, human or whatever.
In other campaigns planes like the laggs and yaks etc die as expected its just that damned I16.
