I read that Portland's fire department removed their US flags not to provoque anti-war protestors.

Hell no! That you are for or against the war, this American flag is there because others died for it to be there. So what now, you cannot display your own flag in your own country?!?

As far as US service men, no one has the right to badmouth them as it would be the same guys who would give their life to protect your backyard.

If you are a peace protestor, protest against the Bush administration, not against the servicemen sweating their butts in the middle of the desert.

my thought of the day, end of my 10 min lunch break, back to my gang of work.
Dat jugs bro.

So let me get this straight...

Almost every organization, team, public service, uniformed person etc. puts flags on uniforms after September 11th.

And they start taking them off when they worry that someone may not approve of an action by the government.

How much you want to bet that that fire dept receives some kind of funding (either directly or indirectly through the state) from the Federal goverment?  The people who want to take down that flag should also be sending back all of that money.

The flag isn't something to put up and take down every other week as some kind of fashion statement.

And I thought fairweather fans were annoying in sports.

Heh no, just saying that if you don't support the government, you shouldn't let it support you.

MONTPELIER, Vt. — A group of Vermont teen-agers threw rocks at a uniformed female Vermont National Guard sergeant last week, in the latest example of a service member facing hostility in the United States.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!
