The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

...at home, or abroad.

They are one of the most unproductive manufacturing nations in the civilized world.... :D

They get a mandatory 35 hour work week, 4 weeks vacation a year for just being hired and more statutory holidays then any western country....

Public holidays

Fixed Public Holidays

1 January - New Year's Day
1 May - Labour Day
8 May - Fete de la Victoire 1945 (WWII Victory Day)
14 July - Bastille Day
15 August - Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
1 November - All Saints Day
11 November - Armistice (Remembrance) Day
25 December - Christmas Day
26 December - 2nd Day of Christmas (Alsace Lorraine only)

Moveable Public Holidays (dates given are for 2003)

18 April - Good Friday (Alsace Lorraine only)
21 April - Easter Monday
29 May - Ascension Day
8 June - Whit Sunday
9 June - Whit Monday (Pentecost)

It is wise to avoid doing business in France during August, when there is a country-wide closure of most businesses.

It is also worth noting that when a holiday falls on either a Tuesday or a Thursday many French workers take the Monday or Friday off. This is not official and generally does not apply to institutions such as banks or government, however it is sufficiently commonplace to cause difficulties in doing business on occasion. The practice is called "faire le pont" (bridging).

Wait!!  Maybe they know something we don't... ;)

Regards,
Badger

ps:  If you do business with them, you have to be prepared to dish out a lot of under the table money (second only to Italy) as a "promote fee".  We call it graft, they call it just part of doing business.

I think more will be coming out after this is all over and it won't make anyone here any happier.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Was watching the news and they were interviewing Marines who had just taken an hospital that had supposedly been used to torture people. Marines gave the reporter a quick tour. They went into a room with blood splattered walls and there was a big battery sitting on the table with electrodes coming off of it. On the side of the battery in red letters it said "France".  Thought it was kind of ironic. Not funny "haha", funny "queer"

I don't know man...I gotta believe the average Euro is just trying to get by, working so their kids can have a better life than they do... it's ha-ha funny, but all kidding aside there's not that much of a difference between us, and in fact many French approve of what we're doing whereas many Americans disapprove. Whatever, I'd rather talk about Toad's Labs or Lazs' V-8s, but I guess we're in a quagmire of war postings.

yep.. we're caught..  in a war. time to pick a side.

yah the t.v's overwhelming.. maint troops hacked up and tossed into shallow graves, surrendering iraq's gunning down troops, suicide bombers, executions and rapes of our pows.... war most hideous.

and every time i hear or see it, i think of france and jaques chirac, and straffo sayin he represents his views.. and that he'd vote for him in the next election.

then i think of rip sayin what a great guy straffo is.. this guy that supports chirac. lets all hum the marsille.

this guy that supports a leader that supports a murdering savage dictators right to continue.. a regime that promotes hideous crimes and atrocities against his own people.. and ours.

and i think there's no room in my world for those kinds of folks anymore. or for the folks that make excuses for them.

when i see straffos posts, when i see blitz posts.. i see the folks that would let the worlds terror states continue on their merry way, slaughtering americans in their offices, on the way to work.. kids in their schools..

how many have to die before the apologists of europe wake up? how many more polands.. how many more cambodias, how many more iraqs??

the hell with it. screw being polite... these folks are beneath contempt.

may god rot their souls.
