You totally missed the point.

I am not comparing the US now to Germany in WWII!

If the reasons why it was so right to stop what the Axis were doing in WWII were so darn clear (to us now), how come so many German citizens didn't get what was so clear to everyone else?

The world ignored what was so wrong untill it was almost too late (certainly too late for millions).

Could it be Germans had lost a war 15 years before and are hurt very deeply in their national pride?

Could it be Germans liked that propaganda that their country is the best in the world and superior to others ?

Could it be Germans liked the propaganda that they are superior to others?

Could it be Germans belived the propaganda that war is an extension of politics?

Could it be they liked a propaganda which blames others for all the evil in the world?

So you're saying that Germans tend to missinterpret world events because they are so mislead by their propaganda?

I'll buy that.

In Iraq, lots of people have died for voicing their opinions.  Only those who have learned to shut-up are left.  Same situation as Germany in the 30s and 40s.

On TV, you see Iraqis chanting a variant of, "Kill America, Sadam is great".  Some of them may believe this in their hearts, but most know that saying anything else will quickly result in their own deaths.  Same situation as Germany in the 30s and 40s.

Fortunately, the might of democracy has resulted in the possibility for a German and an American to have such a discussion.

I look forward to the day that Iraqis will be able to do the same.

Don't forget the patriotism factor.

You go there as Aggressors without UN permission and 12 years of Un sanctions with 1,5 million iraq people dying didn't help much to win their hearts.

Hope it gives a good end at last.

Blitz quote:  "Don't forget the patriotism factor.

You think UN Sanction would have changed the attitude of the Iraqi people?  What if we didn't go in to Iraq because the U.N. didn't sanction it?  I'll tell you what:  The Iraqi people would have had a new organization to hate for not helping them.

No Iraqi people died because of UN sanctions, quit spouting that bull****.  Saddam could have fed his people, he built palaces instead. Saddam alone is responsible. Blitz, you're a walking disinformation machine... certainly some dictatororial country must be looking for a multilingual lemming like you to spew their lies.  You should consider a career change, as gullible as you are.
