Yesterday, British forces from the Black Watch moved into Basra, destroyed a few T-55 tanks, killed a few of the enemy, pulled down two statues of Saddam Hussein (!), before withdrawing without loss.

Today, Royal Marines launched a major offensive towards a suburb of South Basra, destroyed tanks and bridge building equipment and captured 5 senior officers and killed 1 Republican Guard officer. Still ongoing. Described by observers as a heavy engagement.
