Daylight Savings - IMPORTANT!
« on: March 30, 2003, 04:15:41 AM »
This morning the UK and European timezones changed to Daylight Savings, a week before the US.  This means that for one week, UK time and CET will be 6 and 7 hours ahead of Eastern respectively, which has implications for the timing of our events.

Therefore, any events targetted at mainly US participation will start at their usual time, but any targetted at European participants will start an hour earlier Eastern, so that they are at the normal European time.

Times for each event will be as follows:

Today's Sunday SquadOp - 14:00 Eastern/20:00 UK/21:00 CET[/color]
Wednesday's Snapshot - 22:00 Eastern/04:00 UK/05:00 CET
Thursday's Snapshot - 14:00 Eastern/20:00 UK/21:00 CET
Friday's SquadOp - 23:00 Eastern/05:00 UK/06:00 CET
Saturday's CAP - 16:30 Eastern/22:30 UK/23:30 CET

Next Sunday April 6th US changes to Daylight Savings, so times will be as normal from then.   I hope these time changes don't cause too much inconvenience.... we will try to be flexible.  :)

Rompa I can appreciate what you're saying and I apologize that this has happend to you.  With that being said I have a vote in the SEA and 95% of the people wanted to hold off an hour.

I wasn't showing favortism to the US.  I was doing what the majority wanted.  That included people from Europe.

I think implying I was showing favortism was unfair.

Pyroman this is no crisism pointed to u at all, u did what u were ask to do by the masses for that.

I just think its bad by all the people not showing up in time...
its not so hard to check the BBS sometimes, and all europeans should know that they had reset clock tonight. (or did somone not do it?)

Rompa, Pyroman did check with me first before postponing the SquadOp an hour, after taking a vote amongst those who were present, and I gave him the go ahead.  It is difficult when one timezone changes to/from Daylight Savings before another, trying to decide what to decide to do for the best, and I did ask CMs to be flexible.

I realise it is a Euro-friendly timed event, but it is also Sunday afternoon in the US, and they make up a good portion of the participants.  If Pyroman had gone ahead at the earlier time, there would have been a lot more complaints from those arriving an hour later.  We can't please everybody all the time, but the decision was made to try and keep the majority happy.  I am sorry it didn't work out for you.

This is only for one week, fortunately.  Next Sunday everything will revert to normal when the US finally catches us up!  ;)
