I've become uncomfortable with the current model of spawn points. I'd like to open for discussion the possibility of having a road network instead, where GVs could crank open their throttles and speed their way to their targets, or go cross-country sneakily.

Thoughts?

No one will want to drive all that way just to get killed quickly....

But that's the point! Do you drive quickly and run the risk of attack or do you drive across country at a slower speed with much less(?) of a risk? Bombers think nothing of a 30+ minute mission; why shouldn't vehicles?

Roads would be neat, give the GVs 2x speed bonus while on the road. Be careful getting off the road though.

What about the AI resupply convoys? It has been a long time, I don't know if it will still happen, used to be the convoy would run right over a tank and kill it...

It would add a touch more realism, be neat if the roads had choke points like bridges that could be knocked out. Use the resupply to fix it. Of course you could by-pass the bridge, taking additional time and risk.

Make for some interesting armor battles...
