[Preface: I am not a FNG. I've been playing AH for almost 2 years. I am asking a question to elicit philosophical repsonses. I know what the MA is for but I'm not sure everyone else does.]

What is the purpose of the MA? A simple question and perhaps the most unanswerable.

Is the MA for winning a war? for furballing? 1v1's? strategy?

I've seen threads complaining that strategy is unwanted and that it detracts from the "game." To those people I have suggested they visit the Dueling Arena or perhaps H2H.

I believe the Main Arena is for war...simple answer but complicated at the same time. To expound...war involves 1v1s, furballing, stragety, long buff runs, cooperation and most important winning. If the MA wasn't meant for war then why do these things existing in this forum (the MA) along with changing maps.

If you wish to furball without suffering the inconviences of war (low ammo/fuel, bases closed) then perhaps it would be best to start using the Dueling Arena and H2H. These areas are primarily for these purposes. They exist already without having to change anything and upset the people who are happy to play the MA as it is.

I am happy with the MA. I enjoy that I can go on a long buff run and effect the outcome of the war. I smile thinking that a country can cooperate and win. Engaging in a furball and landing safely with 4 kills makes my heart beat fast. All of these things and more are what make up the MA.

Please let us use the MA for what it is for and if you do not enjoy it then perhaps this particular arena is not for you.

I view the main arena as a place for everyone to get their $15 worth.

Like bombing stuff? well graba bomber and help take a base. Like piloting an incredibly vulnerable plane that's required to win the war? Grab a C-47? Like air duels? go lone wolf and look for a plane. Like furballs? check the radar grab your favorite plane and take to the sky.

It may not be historical but i think it's a great place that i'm glad to place my $15 a month into.

Practise for scenarios, nothing else.

Winning the war? That implies nationalism, I refuse to wax "patriotic" over some arbitary chess symbol.

Cooperation? that's what Squads are for. Just this evening there was some fool typing "join mission" continually in caps. "why won't you guys join the mission, don't you want to win?". The answer that we were having fun and he should bother someone else seemed to mystify him.

If you want to be a commendeering arse and dictate how everyone else flies, I suggest you go to the CA with the rest of the anal retentives.

i'm starting to use the MA as an avenue to plead people to come play in the CT.

i'd give the left side of MANXER'S (sorry to keep picking on ya MANXER...but this is for all the times you waxed me in awIII. hehe) brain to have more people fly in the CT, but seeing as that's a rare thing (exept for the last couple of days...at times), i have no choice but to play in the MA.

by the way...CAN WE HAVE A DESERT MAP?

I think it is a place for people to show how 1337 they are by getting kills with 4 or 5 buddies.

Of course, I've only been playing AH for 7 months now, maybe it didn't used to be that way.
