I'll bet many of the anti-war crowd look at these things as Iraqi society being fully supportive of Sadaam.

The reality is that they are there to remind the population that Big Brother is watching...and God help you if you cross him.

its true tho.

like when they are on camera hooting and hollering about how great Saddam is. They know if they were to say anything negative about how life is there or how Saddam is a royal salamander, they and their families would prolly be dead in a few days.

It will be interesting to see what the populace says once they are sure that Saddam and his controls are gone.

The Iraqi people are well aware I'm sure that big brother is watching,with the secret police,etc.

IMHO,all the statues and pictures were erected because Hussein is an egotist.
