when you say "new yorker" do you mean new york city or new york state?
 not that it matters , they are both a hot bed of anti-war liberals.
IE: chuck shumer and hillary clinton , new york state senators.

  You're probability right.  I'm guessing there are probability more 'New Yorker's' that go to collage, avoid any type of national service and hide behind the guns of the U. S. Army, than those from Texas.

   OTOH, Texans step up and and do something for their country.  Are rewarded with funds for their collage education and become valuable members of society with out once going anywhere near Columbia University.

Go figure....

Guess it's not lack of college that makes those Texans more willing to serve their country. According to a 2000 census posted by USA Today Texas is ranked #2 in the Nation for college, New York is #3.

I wonder how that breaks down via branches of service.  Can't say I've noticed a trend towards any particular state contributing more or less while I was in the AF.

otto dont try and glorify military service. most people join so they have something to do. give them order and whatnot. They also use it for college money. I really hope that we dont have a vast majority of people that volunteer do it so they can go off and kill people. If you dont have to go into it why they should you? To be a pawn for whoever is in power this week? Its there to protect me im not hideing behind it. Last i checked we have lost far more civilians to terrorist attacks then military personal. My ancestors fought so i wouldnt have to.whatever dude....



your right john you can be intelligent and not go to college, but those people tend to keep reading and self educating themselves. there are plenty of morons in college.

People join for many different reasons.  Probably one of the most common IS because of lack of options, or money for college.  I joined because I was a deliquent, and didn't have much of a choice.  It was one of the best decisions I made.  I went SOS, got money for college (although not much back then), learned discipline/maturity/responsibility, and used my experience to better myself.

As a result, I would enthusiastically vote for a mandatory 2 years in service.  I think it would be a favorable experience for every American.

why because i have dyslexia, and dont really care about editing my grammer and spelling for a forum?

Politics are a big thing in my life, and if i was in the military and did not support our president i would have a hard problem fighting for him. Do not forget without the private sector , and those that are not in the military it would cease to exsist. Its a symbiotic relationship.

I don't mock anyone's grammar, except perhaps my offspring. It is your demonstrated lack of understanding and arrogance that I ridicule. Your first post in this thread seemed to imply that Texans join the military because they are uneducated, and based on many of your other posts, therefore ignorant.

Your comment in your last post about your ancestors fighting for you and therefore you don't have to shows not only your ignorance but also implies you owe these men and women currently serving, some of whom have laid down their lives for you, nothing.

I find this attittude to be very offensive, I'd chalk it up to youth but it seems I recall you are not so young?

See its hard for me to think like that martlet. If i was fighting for my country in vietnam it would have been hard. I would be constantly doubting the reasons why we were in there. And this would have gotten me killed like it did to alot of guys there.
Plus my inherent distrust of those in power never helps.
