Fox News is just plain BAD
« on: April 08, 2003, 02:40:15 AM »
I'm watching the video of Al-Jazeera getting smoked and the discussion about it being bad press for the US. The anchor at FOX takes it upon himself to single handedly displace the Iraqi Information Minister as Worst Spin Doctor of the War.
The video shows the camera (obviously mounted on a tripod) taking incoming rounds. Chunks of concrete (square, triangular, softball sized CHUNKS) splinter infront of the camera as the rounds zero in on the position and the camera falls over on it's side. Pretty obvious that it was straifed.
 Here's the FOX spin:
The flying chunks of concrete? "Look closely and you will see the spent casings fly out of what must be an Anti-Aircraft Weapon of some sort." Are we fighting in Baghdad or Bedrock?
The camera falling over? "Obviously the Al-Jazeera cameraman was dropping the camera to man the weapon, thus making himself a legitimate target. Either that or he was shooting from behind the weapon, either way he is in a target area." Funny, still looked like the camera was tripod mounted and was knocked over by incoming. And it was still flying concrete not spent rounds flying around, Numbskull!
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not Pro Al-Jazeera. What I'm saying is don't try and make up some lameass story to make the Troops not look bad. They have actual people to do that for themselves
that are MUCH better at it than you. Try admitting that Al-Jazeera was showing LIVE pictures of US Tanks attempting to take a bridge and we put out the lights so the ENEMY could not use it for targeting.
FOX...Fair and Balanced   Yeah they hire people who are "Fairly Qualified to be Mindless Murdock Media" and they are "Balanced completely to Starboard".

Now MSNBC is saying a tank did the shooting, and it was in an area where there are no US forces.

Yep I concur.  I'm not sure MSNBC was aware of that distinction though.

wasn't the confederate flag about states rights?

OH..and.. fox news is the only one that isn't depressing.... all the news services get to the same place eventually... your choice is to watch the commie news network wring their hands and cry "we can still escape if we throw down our guns and run away right now" or fox, saying "we are doing a great job... victory is at hand".

Let's try to limit our remarks to only pithy one's pls.

Fox is a breath of fresh air....not saying good reporting never happens on the more liberal networks....kinda funny to me that you would criticize Fox when they at least hire known liberals and give them airtime...can you give me an example of the same for the other networks?

Hmmmm... someone thinks one of the news services is better than the other in this?

I thought it was funny that so many said "I don't trust fox news" when the reports of Saddam's death came out even though it was MSNBC that broke the news.  I was watching Fox at the time and most of the reporting on the subject involved "it doesn't make sense that Saddam would have been there with a large group of people".

I also believe that virtually none of the anchors covering this war really have any idea what they are looking at.  They stare at the monitors waiting for a pretty flash and hoping that someone will tell them what it was.  Unfortunately, they are relying on "experts" who's main criteria for interview is that they say something new (different) and refreshing.

Dunno... seems anyone dogging one news agency and/or singing the praises of another is pretty much missing the boat.
