Great footage and music.

But i was missing the attack on the holel Palestine today where only reporters live :(

American tank fired a grenade into the 15th floor, 2 reporters dead, 1 from Spain , 1 from reuters, several wounded :(

Wasn't by accident as a general told. There had been gunfire out of the lobby to the american troops!

Ops, why did the tank than fires a grenade up to the 15th floor?

Ops, it was impossible to fire from the lobby. Lobby opens to the south, american troups was to the nw.

Ops, reporters, living in that hotel, told there was absolutely no gunfire at that time and had never been out of palestine hotel

Al Dhasira bureau was attacked too, only hours before by american forces, 1 reporter dead, several wounded :(

Abu Dabi TV had been attacked 2 as TV ch reports (No other confirm, yet)

Awesome!

Gee Blitz, ya don't think for a minute that the Iraqi soldiers that were sniping from that hotel by chance *provoked* that incident, do you? Naaa! ;)

Oh, and by the way, there is a WAR going on, not a good place to report from, unless you are willing to take the risk, no one forced those reporters into the contested area.

The General also said he mispoke when he said the sniper fire came from the lobby.

The General also said CentCom has given repeated warnings to journalists that this is a war zone.

Crawl back into your hole, troller.

Rips , there was no sniping fire and reporters thought at first it was iraq attack.

If it was an accident, why was no investigation announced?

That's called 'free press' in the west and its unnormal to attack reporters for western forces.

And blitz, in case your "sources" for news are self limited, here is some good new for you since you work with kids....

Agence France-Presse | April 8, 2003

BAGHDAD (AFP) - More than 100 children held in a prison celebrated their freedom Tuesday as US marines rolled into northeast Baghdad amid chaotic scenes which saw civilians loot weapons from an army compound, a US officer said.
Around 150 children spilled out of the jail after the gates were opened as a US military Humvee vehicle approached, Lieutenant Colonel Fred Padilla told an AFP correspondent travelling with the Marines 5th Regiment.

"Hundreds of kids were swarming us and kissing us," Padilla said.

"There were parents running up, so happy to have their kids back."

"The children had been imprisoned because they had not joined the youth branch of the Baath party," he alleged. "Some of these kids had been in there for five years."

The children, who were wearing threadbare clothes and looked under-nourished, walked on the streets crossing their hands as if to mimic handcuffs, before giving the thumbs up sign and shouting their thanks.

It was not clear who had opened the doors of the prison.

Civilians also took advantage of the collapse of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's authority to grab weapons from an army base, said Group Sergeant Jeff Treiber.

As marines were alerted by radio that civilians had seized weapons, Treiber warned that anyone seen to be armed could be a target of US-British coalition forces.

"With the weapons they are becoming combatants," said Treiber. "If they don't take the weapons they will be fine."

Other residents stole air conditioning units, television sets and furniture from government buildings in an echo of the looting that was seen in the southern city of Basra.

A 19-year-old called Haider said people had been ransacking government compounds since the morning to steal weapons and furniture.

"Since the morning, nine o'clock, they have been looting. They are stealing weapons and I took three doors," he said.

At one stage the marines opened fire after coming under attack from snipers, leaving at least two civilians wounded.

One man needed treatment for gunshot wounds to his stomach and left arm.

But his friend, Abdul Amir Jaffa, said he did not resent the Americans despite the shooting.

"Americans are coming to free us," he told AFP.

The marines became increasingly edgy as crowds of people took to the streets to observe their progress.

"It's a problem with so many people in the area. Its hard to tell if there are enemy forces among them. You have to be careful returning fire with civilians all over the place," Lieutenant Anthony Sousa said.

Troops from the Marines' 1st Expeditionary Force also entered Baghdad on the east of the city Tuesday as thousands of armoured vehicles and Humvees poured into the capital for a showdown with Saddam Hussein's troops.

hate to say it, but i agree with Blitz on this one.  News channel i was watching (Sky News) had a live feed camera on the roof of the hotel.  There was no gunfire from the hotel (none heard from video feed, and none from building according to the reporter who was on the 14th floor when it got hit)

http://www.sky.com/skynews/home there is a video report there if you want to see it, also an interesting poll running on there :)
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

3 attacks on 1 day sure doesn't look good :(

An apology would have been the minimum standart.

At least i wished to hear that there was an investigation goin on.

Could be commanders overreacted, happens.

But the comments were disgusting :(

Okay..here is a hint. IF YOU DONT WANT TO POSSIABLY GET KILLED WHILE IN BAGDAD...leave. Your in a COMBAT zone. Yes..the US will TRY to avoid killing innocents but somewhere..somehow... somebody WILL f*&K up and mistake some poor slob as a foe.

I feel alot more sympathy for the poor local Iraqies caught in the crossfire. The reporters are just handsomehunkes
Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

Hello?  War zone anyone?  If you want to be there, you accept the risks, regardless of the cause.
