Changed my mind about score.
« on: April 08, 2003, 11:42:43 PM »
For anyone who's been watching you'll have noticed that in the past I've severely bad mouthed the scoring system, saying that it rewards those who stay online longer.....more time (well ok, up to a point) = more total points = higher rank......and my argument has always been that total points makes up too much of the rank, thereby limiting players who dont fly that much (like me) to lower ranks......not rewarding catagories that show a high level of skill (like hit %, k/d, etc) enough compared to total score.  Anyone can get 1000 kills a month if they are online enough and thereby get ranked really high.........

Well it aint so.

Flew 22 hours last month, finished 20th overall and got bumped to 13th cos others already has their $50.

I dont know if the scoring was changed slightly and if it was then to whoever.  If it wasnt then I guess I was just plain wrong.

Here are the number of hours flown by the #1 pilot over the past six months in order to achieve the #1 rank:

Tour 38: 35 hours (this was me ;) - lowest ever!?!?)
Tour 37: 61
Tour 36: 208
Tour 35: 151
Tour 34: 97
Tour 33: 73

Just FYI :)

You people act like 35 hours is trivial.....

35 hours is alot of time for the working man....

Thats like a hour per day average...  Thats alot in my book...

even if you broke that amount down by weekends thats still 8.75 hours per weekend or 4 hours per day...

Dont get me wrong it can easily be done but at a cost of your personal life family quality of life etc...

I think the points should be factored just not at its current weighted levels, and kills over time is still a sham... he who vulches most is rewarded hence with no plane modifier either; not too hard to la7 to the nearest base attack them hard and run back in like 10mins of flight total... where as the same mission in 95% of the other aircraft dont have that luxury....

2 cents....

DoctorYo

PS: dont get me wrong its my choice I dont fly the rocket7 and hence competitive with this scoring system I am not...  I could be if gamed the game and dweebed out....  But im not sitting a keg of Soju so thats not a option at the moment...

208 hours?  Holy Mother of God!  That's like 8-9 solid days out of one month playing this thing.  They're going to need more than 50 bucks for the therapy bills!

The scoring hasn't changed. It is definitely NOT hard to rank well. If you're a good fighter stick, you can get a good fighter rank easily. If you like attacking bases in gv's and are reasonably good at it, you can have a good gv rank. If you have nothing better to do on maps like pizza and trinity and decide to go egg something in a buff, you can have a good buff rank easily. If you take a jabo and egg a town and kill a few things, you can have a good attack rank easily.

Ranking doesn't require time; it just requires you to fulfill the categories that are important to rank well (accuracy, k/t, etc).
