A long time ago, Britain and France were at war. During one battle, The
French captured an English major. Taking the major to their headquarters,
the French general began to question him. The French general asked, "Why do
you English officers all wear red coats? Don't you know the red material
makes you easier targets for us to shoot at?"

In his bland English way, the major informed the general that the reason
English officers wear red coats is so that if they are shot, the blood won't
show and the men they are leading won't panic. And that is why from that day
to now all French Army officers wear brown pants

You know what swoop i was thinking exactly the same thing.

Relations could be damaged by the small minority of british or french who will viciously attack people in the name of revenge. No doubt causing less people to travel much like when we had so much trouble in Europe with the large groups of organised Football fans causing small riots almost.

Things like this im sure are just the idiots of the world proving themselves but it can cause great damage to our relations with France. This artcle really pissed me off i must say. I certainly dont intend to attack some innocent frenchman as revenge but there are too many idiots over here that wouldnt think twice about doing crap like that.

Sad as it is to withhold information, I think things like this should be kept quiet if it appears to be an isolated incident. It doesnt take much to get people fired up and we would be better off not knowing. Its a bloody cowardly attack and they WILL be sorry for it.I just hope not too many non aggresive people get caught up in all the crap that ensues.

"Civil engineer Dan Ready, 27, from Ashford, Kent, was knocked unconscious"

Uh huh, civil engineer eh? He means 'brickie', I.E. bricklayer.

Just sayin' cos I have some experience of brickies from Ashford, Kent.

Have you any idea why they :

not report to the police

How can an inquiry be started without their help ?.

Well the only reason I can think of is that the attacked British decided that after this incident all the French can go screw themselves......I'd probably be kinda anti-French if this happend to me.

And if Wilfred is right they're probably planning a return trip with the rest of the rugby squad.

Dont be daft, course you can.  Europeans are aware of the so called World Series that only includes US teams.....but we do play baseball and softball over here as well, there just aren't many pro teams.

Despite what the Poofer thinks, the Sun does actually report real news like other main stream papers in the UK.  It's not a national enquirer clone.  The reason Dowd has a low opinion of the paper is due to the Sun's writers generally always having an "opinion" on things which seem to match the current popular opinions of the papers reader base......ie they pander to the general plebs and definately *will* jump on any bandwaggon around to sell more copies.

Still no reason to discount the authenticity of the story though......although curiously I havnt found another link from any other news source yet.  Not that it matters cos most the Sun's reader base will believe every word without question anyway.

They would better avoid this idea or they will end in jail.

Yeah see this is what I'm worried about.

I dont think it's a good time to visit Paris......or, if you've got the slightest French accent (Belgians are screwed here), to visit London.

Hopefully there'll be no other incidents but I can already hear the roars at the next BNP / National Front meeting (for yanks, kinda like the KKK only more violent and without the laundry bills).

For about 10 minutes until their Lawyer arrives.

Besides mate, the kind of people that will be thinking about causing agro like this really wont be worried about Police involvement.  We're talking "The Sun" readers here......
