Think Tank - Syria and Hussein, POWs
« on: April 12, 2003, 12:49:53 AM »
Lets suppose displaced elements of the Hussein regime have fled to the sanctuary of Damascus.

Lets further suppose that the American POWs have been taken to Damascus along with those so displaced.

Whats should be done?

====
Lets then suppose that the American POWs have not been taken to Damascus but instead, have been executed.

What should be done?

Lets have a discussion

Case #1:

Go get em once we have firm intel on their location. Try to get in as quickly as possible and eliminate any targets of opportunity that might appear. Hope like hell that the POW's were not moved on a "regular" schedule to keep us guessing at their actual location.

Case #2:

Find the bastards and bring them to Alabama. I have a dull knife and some friends of mine have access to areas where no one will hear them scream and televise it on Al Jazera. It may not solve the problems but I guarantee that people who take POW's will treat them a little bit better once it is "leaked" how we found out those who were responsible paid the price with their lives in a slow painful fashion.

I'm pretty sure any remaining POWs are dead. There isn't much we can do about it, as the powers that be there are pretty much dead too.

If they find that SH ran off to Syria, I don't think they will threaten attack or invasion, but would use other forms of pressure in order to get his bellybutton back.

We could just as easily bring them to Texas to prolong their suffering.

dont know where your from in texas, but im not a torturer nor a cold blooded killer. if thos men were killed we find the men give them a fair trial and kill them. humanly. they will be just as dead.

you never achieve any good goal with torture. read some history.

dunno about that the coc has been so disrupted they could be somewhere and officers in charge of them are dead and no other leaders know their exact pos. no point in killing them really they good as bargaining tool. think about it like this you are iraqi col. and have control of some pow. what better way to look like good guy and get family set up in nice country than by using pow as bargaining chip at end of war. usually when pows killed it happen before they reach senior leaders or intel types. some low level dude carring a rifle who doesnt understand how valuable western pows are.

I can't fault a nation for giving Saddam assylum.  Its their right.  Whether its Russia, Syria or France.

I feel a deep sense of pity for any people that would hide our POWs after this war is over.

It would be folly to assume that syria looks upon the situation in iraq without some serious mental masturbation.

they can't believe they can intimidate the US. Or resist our attention should we make certain requests.

If they have our guys or saddams henchmen and we find proof.. we will make those 'certain' demands.
