CNN: Tikrit Abandoned?
« on: April 13, 2003, 01:25:37 AM »
A reporter is driving around Tikrit in a 7 car caravan being led by a local teacher and his family, and seeing no sign of any sort of hostile forces, Republican Guard, fedayeen, not even an angry Boy Scout :)

what some people wont do for a Pulitzer

My theory is, Saddam and his followers tunneled deep into the earth, where they will become Mole-People and come up at night to prey on surface-dwellers

whoops some nasty people starting firing a machine gun at our intrepid reporter.  His armed escorts returned fire but he decided to pull back and broadcast another day> :)

They lost the satellite feed.  Damn that was impressive, and impressively stupid.  Blow through a military checkpoint? What the hell are you thinking?

I hear you Grunherz -- paint a big white "TV" on one of those BMP-2s, and come in shooting up the place.
come to think of it -- Fox is already advancing on Tikrit to do just that.  CNN does an "underamed reconnaissance", and FOX decides on "Recon in force".  Who the hell is fighting this war anyway?

The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

Naa they were just getting shot at. News people are like combatants now. News people have armed guards and they shoot back! Good thing nobody crashed. I dont think its smart to have an armed guard, they shouldnt go where they might get killed if they dont want to risk it. Having an armed guard, they are just asking for it from some dumb trigger happy person in some part of this world (there are alot) but hey, its their lives to risk.

A concerned viewer,
