most people running in 32 bit mode now i know i was. but then i tried 16 bit color on a whim and my frame rates doubled with my old p3 550 and a gf2 mx400 im getting 40fps in 1280x1024

somthing to think about if you dont mind the color blending that isnt as good.

My FR increased when I changed my GeForce2 MX400 from 16-bit to 32-bit.  I am running 800x600 though.

It's important that you run aces high exactly at the same resolution and color depth as your desktop.

I'm not exactly sure why it speeds up the operation, but it does.

So if you have DT on different res, try changing it to see the difference.

yeah, my fps got a lil boost when i went from 16 bit to 32 bit, in 1024 res (both game/desktop)(1.07 i took a 5-10 fps hit if i tried 32 bit) after 1.08 came out, maybe 1-3 fps, then i got dx8.1 from www.abitboy.com  and got a further fps raise, another 1-2 fps... so my whining about slide shows is mostly over for now.

I tried it in 1024 by 768 , with easymo's test , didn't see hardly anydiff that way , fps wise that is .

Offline , change to rooks , go to the fleet , sit in plane on the deck with the guns shooting at the drones . Good test there IMO .

22 to 23 with either 32 or 16 bit .

here is something odd that happen to me: after playing fine in 1280 x 1024 <32>for several weeks something happen and my in-game graphics just chugging.  What i mean by chuggin is my FR were 30-40 but it looked like i was taking update hits er something.  So pulled them back to 1024 x 780 and it went away, go figure.  getting good rates in 1024 x 780, avg 40.
