Too bad we dont have mannable flak trains.  The Germans had one deployed during the second Ploesti raid, and there was a great shootout between the train gunners and buff gunners as they ran side by side toward Ploesti!

Rasker the  "Q train" was in the First Ploesti raid..it caused tremendous causalties before they even go to target...

And we could have on ein here but it woulnd be manned...Im opting for the ..No Q train..our bufffs will have a hell of atime as is when we get over the refinery and there is 30 osty's and m-16's:)

Nilsen, the Snapshot next Wednesday is at 22:00 Eastern (04:00 CET) - that is a little late for me, and even later for you, I think..... however, I am sure it will be used for a Euro Snapshot (Thursdays, 15:00 Eastern - 21:00 CET) before too long.  I hope so anyway, this is one I would like to do!  :D

Never done one of these before.  Anything special I should do?  I'd prefer to fly the LW side... how do you pick who flies for which country and which planes they fly?  How early should I show up to get my preferred LW ride?

BGB, you said to download the map beforehand.  Which map will this run on?  AHCMed?

Thanks in advance.

When you enter Special Events Arnea, if you don't have the map, it will DL automatically.

You choose which side to fly for. You choose your ride (out of the planes made available for the snapshot).

Generally, the choice of planes per side is quasi limited. If you have your heart set on a certain ride, and the quota is filled, a friendly request will often get someone to switch with you. I would  say be there no later that 30 mins before start time.

Lemme see if I understand you, Boss.

You want me to fly a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress...in formation...below 500ft...following the terrain?

Then you want me to hit a target level bombing, from less than 1000 feet, all the while fending off AAA fire?

I assume this whole thing is your idea, isn't it?

I hope we'll be using retarded bombs, too.

Sounds like fun!

Was a good snapshot BGB !

I am sure a good time was had by all.

Next time leave the "frickin" clouds out of the set-up. Was like flying around through the fog banks off North Carolina!

When I was 16 I worked in an appliance and electronics store, as a Summer job.  My boss at that time was Bill Knapp.  Bill was a tail gunner on a B-24 Liberator during the Ploestie Oil Field Raids.  He was shot down twice, on two diffferent raids.
