Aussie SAS find 51 MiGs in Iraq
« on: April 18, 2003, 09:27:39 AM »
He he...Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!

My question though is this.....what do they do with the MiGs now?
Destroy 'em?....keep 'em to fit out the new Iraqi AF?  Sell  'em?
Use 'em for training aids? what?

And not only the jets....what about all the undammaged hardware the iraqiis left lying around?
All those BMPs or whatever they are that they found just parked up in their sheds ...............Legally, who owns them now?
To the victor go the spoils? or is it a bit more complex than that?

Anyway...**** hot! theres 51 MiGs that will never be a Hornet/Tornado/Eagle/Harrier/Tomcat/A10/Falcon...whatever driver's problem. That can only be a good thing in my book.

PS as a side note, the SASR was officially cleared of all allegations of mistreating prisoners in East Timor the other day.....they were being hassled for holding millitia members in the 'stress position' while under interrogation.....for feks sake folks, this was a war, these men are warriors, the men they interrogated were enemy warriors....bein' sat on yer arse with yer hands cuffed behind your back is hardly a war crime under those conditions eh?

They belong to Iraq. They will be used to equip their new air force.

I think the US has learned by now that its not a good idea to equip hostile nations, especially "liberated hostile nations" with US own equipment.

It may appease the money grubbin' russians.. they can now sell more migs and their parts to Iraq. Heck, maybe even the French can kiss their way into the rearming of the Iraqi army.

Wouldn't that be something?
