Pah. Small time.
We've had wars that have lasted longer than that.
What I mean Swoop, is that there are people from just about everywhere in the world living here, quite often, we have communities of folks living with and among people who are from a country that it is at war with their own....Serbs and Croats living side by side, Indians and Pakistanis, Koreans and Japanese,Cambodians, Vietnamese, Thais, Chinese...hey we even have Kurds, Sunni
, Shi'ites etc....and they all seem to get along reasonably well here..at least they dont have open hostility toward each other.
Now, if that is possible here, and has been done for at least a century, why the hell isnt it possible wherever they came from?
OK, so the countries I listed may not be at war with each other now, but at the very least there is barely concealed hostility in most cases.
I'm not seeking answers here really, and I'm not saying that Australia is all that is wonderfull (pssst...it IS pretty damn close though
Im just saying that growing up in Australia, and witnessing first hand a very diverse cross section of cultures existing in harmony, it is hard to get to grips with why it is so difficult to achieve the same in the native lands of those cultures.
People are strange eh?
