Hnmmm..good question. I ve asked it before and got completely
contradictivbe answer.
Answer #1. Sound acceleration uses your sound card in order
to relieve the CPU of sound burdon, thus your
performance improves, as far as frame rate goes,
when u increase your sound accelleration.
Answer#2. Sound acceleration is like a perk. The more u use,
the more resources are diverted to sound from
the CPU so your performance, as far as frame rate,
suffers.
Answer#3. Sound has no effect on frame rate.
My tests indicate, no significant changes in frame rate with
sound acceleration maxed out, as compared to min'd out.
I run mine at one notch below max, just cause that seems to be
the consensus.
However, I am convinced that, sound can cripple frame rate.
For example, I am attacking a b17 form that is 1000 ft over the
vh, the 17s drop bombs as I am geting ready to open fire, the
bombs hit, explode, my frame rate drops off to grammas slideshow just as the massive esplosions start to rattle
and frame rate back to normal as they stop.
Now, I have custom sounds. Particularly, my bomb explosions
are awsome jaw rattlers at close range, and very real sounding at a distance. It is 279kb's, so I have deduced that this is
the problem. If you have custom sounds and experiecne
bad frame rate during busy sound activitity, chk the size of
your sound files.
