I don't think that is as important as the process itself. As it stands you can have more votes, but still lose an election. Which kind of defeats the purpose of democracy.

BTW,that isn't mentioned because of the last election. The shoe could end up on the other foot as well.

As long as you have the right to vote, I don't think there should be term limits. I might be missing a point for term limits, but I don't see one.

Of course any amendment must be approved by at least 3/4 of the states. Seems pretty unlikely to me.

Couple of thoughts:

There is no such thing as a popular "vote" where the election of US president is concerned.  

Term limits have always appealed to me because I believe no one should be allowed to make a career out of the political process.  No political office should be allowed more than two consecutive terms.

Term limits = good.  Encourages change within the two party system.  Otherwise, the incumbent party will just continue nominating its incumbent candidate... if I don't like that incumbent, I have to vote for a totally different party.  

I would vote Republican, but not as long as GWB is their presidential nominee.  As much as I think the democratic party is a rudderless garbage scow drifting in a river of crap, I can't bring myself to vote for George.  However, the Repubs have lots of good leaders that I would love to have the opportunity to vote for.  Without term limits, they might never get a chance to make it past the primary.  

If we didn't have an 8 year cap, I think the country would get into a "well he didn't screw things up too bad (and I'm too lazy to go research issues and I recognize this guy's name), so I'll vote for him again" mentality.  I personally believe that change is good because diversity of views is such a fundamental part of democratic society.  You'd lose a lot of that diversity of thought if you had the same president for too long.

it's not a democracy , it's a republic, and i'm not going to take the time to explane how the electorial college works and why we have it.

the two term limit was a custom before it became a law, i think FDR was the only pres to run and be elected for more than two terms (4 terms), it could have been because of the depression and war.

i like term limits, allthough incumbents can be voted out, most are reelected. elected office was never intended to be a life time career. 12 years as a senator is long enough,and allthough the house is reelected every 2 years, they all have "protected districts" so they are reelected.

Oddly enough, the Presidential term limits in place now are there by Republicans. FDR was wildly popular after bringing the country out of the depression and looked like he could NEVER be defeated.  BTW...I'll belive a 2 term Bush when I see one.
