New CT Settings?
« on: November 20, 2001, 05:26:00 PM »
A lot of us have great ideas for how the CT could grow.  But most of the ideas require some programming work from HTC.  Work that I don't think they are likely to do for an arena with nobody in it.  So what things can be immediately done to improve the CT?

How about setting the CT up exactly the same as the MA, EXCEPT:

1. Flight is disabled for Bish.

2. Knights have Axis aircraft only.*

3. Rooks have Allied aircraft only.

4. Scenario Icons. (3.0k max range.)

5. Rolling Plane Set**.

*All vehicles and the C-47 are enabled at all times for both sides.

**First day of each Tour is April 1943. Each Day of the Tour is one WW2 Month, and planes are enabled on their approximate Month of introduction during WW2. Perk planes are still perked per MA values with one exception. Day 30 is August 1945, and WWII is over.  The 30th and 31st days of a Tour are full planeset days during which all of a side's planes are enabled without perk prices.

Now that would be an interesting setup.

How likely is it that HTC might do it?
I've seen a lot of requests for similar changes to the CT since I've been here (not all that long admittedly  :)  )

Yes capture is on.  It's just like the MA except for the numbered items.

Stop that Funked.   You will confuse us all with a good idea succinctly stated.

It's very good    :)

 ...

but will the map be the English Channel map we have? I wonder if this map is corrected.. there were some bugs (like friendly flak firing at German fighters, giving away the positions (   ) in previous CT map. If it IS the Europe map, is it a map with changed strat elements?

If it isn't, what map will we use?

 ...

Personally, I wish to see CT with the Europe map we previously had, with strat elements of 1.08 added in.. plus, greater emphasis on strategical targets.

For instance, in the Europe map we had, the city of London was just a big texture smeared on the ground    :D, but maybe in between those textures, you might insert 6~10 MA sized cities here and there?? ... or adding factories to the map, and make it so like 9 MA sized factories gathered in a place.. it would resemble a factory complex which needed carpet bombing..    :)

Also, adding long long railways across the map would really add some nice immersion factor.

I'm enthusiastic about the CT... and with current increase in AH numbers, it might turn out with better results than last time    :D

Yes, the only reason why I dont go to CT is because there is no field capture. Just endless "historical" furballing over the english channel.

I agree completely. But I think there is no code in AH to change planeset after field capture.  :(

Gets my vote Funkedup!

"But I think there is no code in AH to change planeset after field capture"

Now that would suck and it would totally undermine any potential "historical" flavour tried in the CT.  :(

Glad to see people are picking up on the CT ideas. It's a great arena, and when people are in there everyone seems to get along quite well.

I was thinking of getting some of the larger squads of AH together (not mine of course...we're just tiny) and running a weekly event there to pick up the population a bit. Perhaps even a day where AW vets take on the AH vets (not to stoke the rivalry, but more to get each group to know one another). If this is a terrible idea, let me know in this thread and I'll let it go  :)

Worth a try.  (I'm assuming that MA radar settings are included.)

"But I think there is no code in AH to change planeset after field capture."

Newly captured fields might still allow refuel and rearm of the "wrong" planes, and GVs could be used for defense.  If so, planeset/field combinations could be corrected once a day, since the RPS has to be maintained anyway.
