Squad Ops Protocol Questions
« on: April 20, 2003, 08:26:30 AM »
Da Muggers are new to Squad Ops.  Several questions have been asked by the members and I don't know the answers...so  maybe some of you vets can answer them for us.

1.  After a pilot is killed, or his plane disabled, is it ok to become a "Coastwatcher"?  ie.. go to bases or fleets and report activity visible from the ground to the CO?

2.  If you boot on takeoff how long do you have to reup?  Do you need permission to do so?

3.  After a frame is over is it ok to change sides to go view damage you did to your target?

4.  If a pilot arrives too late to fly can he still join as a gunner/observer as long as he was initially signed with the squad and he does not put us over our numbers limit?

To answer your questions:

[list=1]
  • Yes, its okay to be a "coast watcher." You can go to any of your bases and report activity there. You may not switch to the opposing country though and scope out their bases or fleets during the event (while logs are running). If caught switching to opposing country the whole squad will be delisted from the event.
  • For reupping. From Launch to Launch +15 minutes you may reup for disconnects, crashes, ditches, bails, and death do to friendly fire as long as you have not taken any damage from enemy fire. You do not need to get the CM's permission to do so. From Launch +15 minutes to Launch +30 minutes you may only reup do to disconnects and you must ask the CM to open a field for you. And after Launch +30 minute there are not reups for any reason.
  • After logs are closed, event ends, it is fine for you to go and switch countries and check out the damage done to the other side. Not before .. see answer 1.
  • I pilot who is signed to a squad actually has to Luanch +15 minutes to get into the air. After that its too late for him to fly. But yes, he may gun or be an observer for a bomber.

Thanks Ghost....

I'll make sure the troops know.  Also, if there are other things like this that we should know but aren't spelled out in instructions somewhere they'd be welcomed.

Actually Dugger I am in the process of writing up what is expected from Squads in Squad Ops, what the rules are .. which ones are flexible and which ones are not, and what CMs must relay in their objective orders.

So you guys will have extensive reading material, well once I write it.

Hi GA, we do try to keep Skuzzy updated with all events so that he can keep the calendar up to date; however, as delays do sometimes occur, I also have my own version of the calendar  here, which I keep updated as far as possible.  If you bookmark it, you can keep checking it...  ;)
